Such people call themselves Messianic Jews but they are also known as "Jews for Jesus." To Jews they are deeply irritating because a hallmark of Christianity is attempts to convert others and we do not like it when people try and convert us. Jews define the messiah as a political leader who will restore Jews to Israel. Jesus was therefore not the messiah because he did not do this.
