Dem here - i will vote for Hogan 100% Selfishly, I want to try and reduce the probability that Biden's ridiculous capital gain/step up in basis changes to occur. A sane Republican in the Senate will help. I will also vote for Biden..
Imagine explaining this rationale to your children and grandchildren.
What..that I am trying to maximize their financial security versus giving to an inept government run by 80 year olds? Quite easy! I would never vote for Trump but I can in good conscience vote against my livelihood and that of my children.
On the one hand, it's bad for the country and the planet. On the other hand, your children may inherit more money from you when you die. So who's to say, really?
I can argue a restrictive tax on capital gains is bad for the country..it would reduce large scale transactions of assets/businesses. No one is right, vote for what is in your family's best interest.
I usually try to vote for what's in society's best interests. "What's in it for me" is not a good guiding principle.
