It completely derails any prior progress.[/quote] +1 Letting it trickle is “death by a thousand paper cuts” , described in many infidelity books. Get the disclosure out at once. Most therapists are not good with this. It’s recommended you provide a written timeline. I preferred hearing the ugly details at home prior to seeing therapy. IN FACT, it is MUCH better for cheater to have extensive individual therapy and the betrayed spouse their own therapist before either enters into Couples therapy together. It cannot be productive without that roof problem being dealt with individually. [/quote]
