Just visited fox news page on facebook. Scrolled down to their post from Spicer's briefing - almost all the comments are "finally someone telling us the truth" and "glad he's a strong speaker." and "the liberal media was lying." Feels like an alternate universe.
They must be bummed that Trump is already throwing him under the bus. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/21/us/politics/trump-white-house-briefing-inauguration-crowd-size.html?_r=0 "But most of his remarks were devoted to attacking the news media. And Mr. Spicer picked up the theme later in the day in the White House briefing room. But his appearance, according to the people familiar with Mr. Trump’s thinking, went too far, in the president’s opinion."
Spicer tried to control the narrative and he largely succeeded. There was little policy discussion on the Sunday talk shows about things such as the new climate report, gutting the reduction in PMI premiums, the jingoism of "America First" (and the roots in US anti-Semitism of the 1930s) etc. We didn't get appearances from the new SecDef to discuss the War on Terror or implications of relocating the US embassy to Jerusalem. Instead we got tired talking points from Reince and Kellyanne about the number of states Trump won in the election and Nielsen ratings. The Not Ready For Prime Players at work.
Yeah but the PMI thing is something that came and went before a single citizen could benefit from it. The negativity of his speech has been very well covered. And Jerusalem hasn't officially been announced, but it will cause a blowup when it does. There is a chance that this will end up being the ambassador working out of his private residence in Jerusalem, which doesn't amount to anything.
