PP -- my daughter was one of the ones Holton took a chance on. She did horribly when she started at Holton in middle school and ended up at an Ivy. To try to calm your nerves as you requested - know that Holton takes more risks than its top competitor-- NCS. There is nothing wrong with NCS -- it's great. But, Holton is even better for the work it does to take girls from less than stellar backgrounds and turns them into total superstars. It is magical to watch and people will jump all over me who don't know how it works there. We would need to know a few things about your daughters: what grade are they vying for; do they have any special talents besides test scores; did they do well in school; are they coming from a school Holton has accepted girls from in the past; diversity ?; able to give big at fundraising time; able to donate your time/goods/services?; is your daughter a good writer; does she like to read? Anything else we can know that will help your case? Great letters of rec? Rec. from an alum? Holton will look at all of these factors. Some girls apply several different years and end up getting in by high school if not sooner. Good luck!
