Hello, Urban Moms and Dads, I posted about this study on DCUM in May and we had a nice response. However, the protocol has since been updated so that we can now come to you (which makes the process much easier for parents). If your child is between the ages of 5-7 months or 11-13 months (or will be soon), and you are interested in learning about your child’s cognitive, motor, and language skills, the National Institutes of Health would love your help. We are evaluating a short version of a measure of child development which may be used in The National Children’s Study and other large scale studies. We'll be observing such skills as crawling, reaching, understanding gestures and words, and walking. You will be with your child during the full session, and will receive $25 and a child's gift book as thanks for taking part in this study. The appointment lasts 45 to 65 minutes. The activity can be performed in at Westat's offices in Rockville, MD (evening and weekend hours are also available), or, as mentioned, arrangements can be made for a two-person staff team to come to your home in selected areas including Western DC and the nearby Maryland and Virginia suburbs. To learn more and sign up, please visit http://www.westat.com/about_us/research_participation_bayley.cfm. Thanks for helping to improve childhood research (and please feel free to comment on/top this thread so that more people are able to see it)!
