A blood clot would be red and warm to the touch. If you've had it a long time that is unlikely. It's probably an injury deep in the muscle tissue that you aggravate every so often. I had a similar "thing" in my calf muscle and it took 3 months to stop bothering me. Doesn't hurt to see the doc though. Start with your primary care physician and let them recommend what specialist to see if they can't address it.
A blood clot will not necessarily have those symptoms. I had one which eventually went to my lungs. I did not have the symptoms you describe. I had no symptoms from the clot in my leg. Major symptoms, of course, from the ones in my lungs.
I'm sorry that happened to you and I hope it's all better. How did you know you had one in your leg? Did they just discover the one in the lungs and then figure out where it came from? My doctor told me that my calf pain couldn't be a clot because it's been there for over a month and didn't have the symptoms discribed above. I have a clotting disorder so it worries me.
