Taking 3 and 6 year old to a movie on Friday: Arthur, Muppets, Happy Feet 2

Thanks for the suggestions!

My DH took 3-year-old to Muppets and seriously won't shut up about it. He even looked up all these reviews to confirm it was the best movie he's seen in a long time. "It has 98% on rotten tomatoes!" 3-year-old was "meh." Although, she was singing "manah manah" all day long.

DH took 3 kids ages 3, 6 and 9 to see the Muppets over the weekend. The older two thought it was hilarious and have been sharing tidbits ever since. DH said it was fine. The 3 year old watched and enjoyed most of it but there were a few slow parts where the youngest got bored.

I saw Happy Feet 2 over the weekend with my 3 and 6 year old boys. BORING. Too many long-winded slow songs. I vote for Muppets.

Although DH and I adored the Muppet movie, 5 yo DS was not a fan. Too slow for him, not enough silliness or singing & dancing, both of which he was promised in spades.

Liked Muppets over Arthur, FWIW. Have fun!

Russell Brand (Arthur) seems like a raging egotist and I wouldn't want to watch him all blown up on a big screen. I liked the Dudley Moore version of Arthur. But maybe that's just me.

I love that the adults are liking the Muppets more than the kids! It answers my Muppets question, though. Was considering whether to take DS to Muppets. I may opt for another movie instead.

Happy Feet 2 did not get good reviews.

Muppets was a bit slow in places for my 10 y/o. So much of it is old references that I have to believe she didn't "get" many of the jokes.

And the song-and-dance numbers are clearly designed for the soon-to-be Broadway show based on the movie.

I was really looking forward to the Muppets movie, but was disappointed - found it slow and boring. So did my 5 and 3 year olds. We'll try Arthur next weekend.

I can't stand the original Happy Feet. You'd have to pay me to see Happy Feet 2.

Muppets!

I may be the DH of 00:19. For somebody who was raised on the original show and movies, this was an amzing experience.

For the kids, it depends. I think it would definitely be too slow for a 3 year old. Older kids will probably enjoy it if, and only if, they have some previous experience with the Muppets. In my case, DS (5yo) had already discovered the Muppets through youtube, and spent most of the movie on the edge of his seat waiting for the "Mahna Mahna" song to come up (and it did not disappoint). He loved it, but I wouldn't expect all kids to have the same reaction.
