My wife would like to begin acupuncture, and luckily, our insurance provides some coverage for it. Does anyone know of a fertility-friendly acupuncturist in DC/MD/VA that takes insurance? That's actually in the network? Preferably Cigna...
Thanks. |
I see an acupuncturist regularly -- most of them do not take insurance because it is too difficult for a one-person operation to deal with, but you can just file a claim with your insurance company and receive reimbursement. My acupuncturist provides me with a receipt, medical code, her license #, etc. and I just file it. Mine isn't in network but I still receive a fairly significant reimbursement. Your insurance company should provide you with a list of preferred providers. Good luck! I see my acupuncturist for conditions outside of infertility and I love her! |
Try Arthur Fan in Tyson's Corner or Kerri Westhauser in Falls Church. They both take insurance. |
Yun Brown in Silver Spring takes insurance. She has a home office a few blocks from Holy Cross. I used her for my IVF at SG and for what it's worth the cycle was successful. I really liked her.
Her rates were lower than others in the area as well so if your insurance only covers a percentage this might be another positive point. |
Double check that there aren't restrictions on what you can get acupuncture for in order for your insurance to cover it. My insurance covered acupuncture for everything but infertility. I didn't realize this though until after submitting claims for 6 weeks. |
I'm also interested in this. In particular, does any acupuncturist in DC take insurance? |
PP- Second the DC/acupuncture/insurance need. |
The above mentioned Kerri Westhauser. She takes insurance and see patients in DC as well. |
Gui Fan Chen in DC takes insurance. her bedside manner leaves a lot to be desired, and i didn't go to her for fertility, but she did wonders for my lower back pain.
Lisa Eaves also in DC takes insurance. |
I used acupuncturists at the Teal Center in Arlington for fertility support - they have fertility specialists there. The center doesn't file the claim for you, but they do provide you with all of the necessary forms to file yourself, and I received reimbursment. |
Deb Earley in DC takes insurance.

Yun Brown is wonderful. I used her for PCOS and it worked. She works with most major insurances (I think you get 20% off - at least that's what it was when I went to her 2+ years ago). I think weekly treatments were $60 or $65 with the discount. |
