Are white pants only for old ladies

Anonymous
I wear white jeans and I am in my 60’s.

I assume no? I have toddlers so I’m wondering if the “aging” aspect has to do with the fact that people who wear white trousers have an excess of time or money to spend on laundry.

What does having toddlers have to do with keeping your pants clean? Never had this issue.

I spend a lot of time receiving sticky and/or dirty hugs, helping people who are still learning fine motor skills manage coloured food, sit on the ground regularly, etc. I thought those were all pretty common experiences of toddler parents?

You're not wearing white pants on the regular. You choose an occasion where you wont be on the ground, etc.

I don’t wear them very often, but I’ve had several pairs of white jeans over the years and I don’t wear them to clean house, go berry picking, hiking, picnicking, on a trip to a petting zoo, etc., but if I’m wearing them to a bbq or to stroll on the boardwalk in the evening or to go to the grocery store or the movies, I’m fine.

Any other dark or medium color they want. Black, brown, blue, denim, bright saturated color, khaki. Lots of other colors our there.

White and pastels are very aging once you get past mid 20s, unless you are extremely pale and have light hair. It's best to wait til you go gray to wear them again.

Most women don't want to have period accidents with white pants on either.

I think you can get away with white pants if they are flattering cut jeans ( recent purchase- not too tight, not too skinny) and you wear them with a solid dark color tee and sneakers. What ages the look is trying to make them too dressy and resort wear-ish with colorful print tunic/peasant tops. If you’re actually 70+, I think the tunic and white pants is a cheerful, festive look.

What? This is not true at all. It's just not. And white PANTS would have nothing to do with your skin tone or hair color because they aren't near your face, genius.

Op I've worn white pants my entire life, as do my friends. Just went out for dinner the other night with friends and most of us were wearing white jeans. Bizarre to assume they are old ladyish.

Well, first of all, what colors "age" you really only apply to tops and dresses because they are close to your face.

Get some white cargo or parachute pants. They are very on trend this summer.

Nope. If you are wearing white and pastels, especially on the bottom,.at age 25+ you look old and frumpy.

I refuse to wear white pants because they give me flashbacks to my junior high marching band uniform.

What about brides over 30? Should they wear bright purple?

You're not too bright, are you?

Color isn't really what makes clothes aging. Style/cut are. Baggy capris would be aging in any color. Long and tailored pants in white would be nice.

Bleh. OP and I think you’re right, the latter is what I did and I look like I’m going on a nice cruise with my new, younger boyfriend from the retirement home. To which I aspire, but not right now.

Slim white jeans are a preppy staple. I wore them as a kid and my tween wears them now, I wear them now and my mom wears them now. We are all slender and have pretty “classic” taste (aka “boring,” which I’m cool with), so we are not on trend by any means. But I don’t think they’re an old lady thing.
