Why be sad? Apparently black skin allows you to pick a fight and then have everyone defend you based on your skin color.

WTF? Apparently white skin allows you to fight also pick a fight and walk away from it. Both kids were wrong for fighting. No one is defending the fighting, you little a$$hole. We are debating the police response. Most likely the police did not see the beginning of the fight, otherwise, if they were on their job, they would have intervened before it got to the point that it did.

Why did they throw down, knee and handcuff the black kid, but not the white kid? Where is the fairness? Oh, I forgot, black kids are scary, oversized, animals, and look like grown men. All those kids look like their from the burbs, but only the black kid got cuffed.

I’m questioning the police response, not the actions of the kids.

The white kid was clearly not picking a fight. It was escalated step by step by the black kid. It doesn’t get any more clear cut then a person saying “let’s go outside”. If that kid gets cuffed then good riddance. Race really doesn't seem to be the main issue with this whole thing. The cops tackled the right kid who happened to be black. I am not a blind supported of racist, aggressive cops who are a problem in every city. Violent people should go to jail and this kid was choosing violence. Bullies suck.

The police doesn’t know who escalated anything at the point they intervene! Why are you guys focusing on the fight? The cops don’t hear that conversation, if they did, why didn’t they intervene before the fight started? You guys act like the cops were a part of the audience and heard the whole interaction.

Then handcuff both

Exactly. And the white kid was bigger thus more intimidating.

We use to handcuff everybody. People would get pissed we handcuffed “the girls” but I don’t know who has a knife. Everybody gets handcuffed until the situation is worked out.

This is clearly racist .

Gotta treat your beat like a war zone, everyone is a threat. And then you wonder why people complain about brutality

You may be right. But my issue is why was the cops first move was towards the black kid and not towards the “white looking” kid? They have no idea who started the fight, the black kid was not struggling to comply, yet he got cuffed. And the other kid was indeed bigger!

Maybe the cops saw the fight start before intervening? I just watched a video where one kid was the aggressor and the other kid defended himself.

Were you drunk? The white guy pushed the black kid first.

Actually the black kid was asking for a fight “let’s go outside right now” and then he pushed the arm of the white kid while saying “get your hand out of my face” and THEN the white kid shoved back. Then the first actual punch was thrown by the black kid. That makes the black kid the aggressor. It’s on video so I am not sure how you think any of this is refutable.

The white kid had his hands in the black kids face. That’s being the aggressor and starting a fight. Once you put your hands in someone else’s face you are ready to fight. You are just waiting for them to push your hand so you can swing first. [/quote
But he didn’t swing first. Before the hand in the face the black kid was asking to fight outside. How can you defend the kid asking to fight outside? How can someone pointing a finger at you be a clear provocation in your mind yet you have nothing to say about a person saying “let’s go outside”?

How can you assume the white kid didn’t provoke the black kid to get to the point where he said, let’s take this outside? Why would you put your fingers in someone’s face and when they smack your hand away you violently shove them back? How can you defend the white kid like he wasn’t looking to fight too? If he didn’t want to fight he would’ve left. They are both guilty and should’ve been treated equally.

If you smack my hand when I haven’t touched you then expect to get punched. Being shoved is the least you should expect. Fighting words are a legal provocation.

If you put your hands in someone’s face expect them to get smacked. Getting your hands smacked is the least you should expect when you put them in someone’s face. It’s why people do it, so they can instigate a fight bc they know the reaction it will cause. Putting your hands in someone’s face is fighting words.

Which came first? Fighting words to “let’s go outside” to fight, or the pointing finger? Who touched who first?

Putting your hands in someone’s face escalates the situation quickly. The white boy didn’t want to go outside. He wanted to fight in front of a crowd. He had every intention of fighting.

No the aggressor is the escalator which is the person who puts their hand in someone's face. It moves from verbal towards physical intimidation. The black kid says take your hands out my face and sideswipes the white kids arm. The white kid puts BOTH hands on the black kid and shoves him. The white kid was the first person to use physicality and the first person to push in a threatening manner. You could say that the black kid thought that the white kid putting his hand in his face and swiping it is a form of self-defense.

Keep in mind the black kid has nowhere to go. He cant step back because he is backed up to a couch. The white kid could easily step away.

The cops were wrong.

That all sounds good until you understand that assault does not require a physical touch, only the expectation of imminent physical harm. Being yelled at to “let’s go” fight is a pretty clear assault. You are allowed to defend against assault.

I admit that the cops are probably racist though.

Clearly the bar for defining assault is pretty low for the black kids (he only has to say lets fight).. Also he was saying lets go outside. Thats not imminent. He wasnt saying fight then and there.

Let me add that further details say the black kid is an 8TH grader and the white/latino kid is a high schooler.

A bigger older kid getting in your face is pretty imminent as well. That kid has about 40-50lbs on him.

Racist cops. Browsing on publicfreakouts reddit, you see cops/fire departments/etc… getting called out for racist acts. Jersey and pa have a lot of white old boy clubs. Glad they are getting called out.

Really? Those cops charged in. The black kid was NOT RESISTING. Man, you guys are ridiculous. Both kids were fighting and they immediately throw down the black kid, knee him and hand cuff him. The white gets to chill on the couch, then gets to STAND OVER THE COPS IN A THREATENING manner. Hilariously, white kid expects to hand cuffed and doesn’t! That white privilege is a sight to behold!

I mean they didn’t give the black kid a chance to comply before they threw him on the floor!

Are we watching the same f’ing video?????

Do white people and black people really look at this video and say the black kid was not complying but the white kid was? For all the cops know that white kid could have had a gun? Or could have run away? They completely ignored him, and was clearly focused on subduing the most like same aged black kid.

And not that it matters but the black kid is in much nicer, more expensive attire than the white kid. But tell us how race doesn't matter.

Anonymous
Doesn't matter who started the fight. When the security came, they saw the white looking kid on top of the black kid, pulled him away to the couch, and then both proceeded to handcuff the black kid. Shouldn't they have handcuffed whom they saw as the aggressor when they barged in? And the woman cop was so concerned for the white (white looking) kid. She should have been handcuffing that kid too.

The white looking Latino kid's friend who recorded the video posted on the you tube comments section that "Joey" was in a heated conversation with the black kids 7th grader friend and then the black kid acted out in support of his friend. The white kid who is in high school was picking a fight with a 7th grader.

That said, these idiots recording instead of preventing the fight is what bothers me more. Strange world we live in, where going viral and getting likes is the next best thing to being a celebrity.

This is the unfortunate truth about the US. Is this news to you?

Black kid swung first.

However, did the cops know this? Probably not.

Looks racially motivated to me, especially since when the cops arrived, the black kid was on the ground with the white kid on top of him.

The white kid even put his hands together on the couch in the "cuff me" position and still, no cuffs. I think he was shocked by the lack of cuffs. White boy learned his privilege that day.

Well now the governor of New Jersey is reviewing.
