Anyone have experience with The Chesapeake Center?

Hello- any recommendations of providers you have liked at this practice to manage pediatric inattentive ADHD? Do they include nutritional supplements in their medication management? Thank you![b]

We saw Dr. Morse. He never discussed nutritional supplements. He also wanted to tweak the med and saw DC every week or other week for a while. We could not afford that. Moved on.

Thank you! Yes, the format does seem like it will add up pretty quickly.

My DD is currently with Chesapeake. It is expensive but my insurance reimburses at 80% after we meet the deductible. It's worth it for us to have her psychologist and psychiatrist in the same location. It's been great that they talk and communicate with each other for the best treatment plan. Our psychiatrist has also been conservative and suggests a lot of non-medical interventions which I appreciate. I'd recommend them if you have good insurance!

This is PP, I forgot to add that our psychiatrist did recommend supplements.

We have had a good experience so far - fees and frequency were fully disclosed at the outset. Frequency was something like two appts closer together at the beginning, and then shorter monthly med checks. I think once you are cruising from a med point of view you can just even check in quarterly but not sure.

It's been nice to work in a very ADHD centered environment. Every interaction I have had even with support staff has been positive.

How would Chespepeake do diagnosing a possible language-based learning disorder alongside a case of known ADHD? We need to update my child's testing. We know the ADHD is there, but we are worried about some dyslexia that has been lurking.

Another Morse family here, and I could not recommend him more highly. He was the best mental health medical provider our family has encountered (and we’ve seen a lot...). Extremely thoughtful and deliberate, creative with solutions while at the same time sufficiently conservative so you don’t feel like he’s just needlessly medicating your kid. He worked closely with DC’s other medical providers for a really comprehensive and integrated approach, which we also liked. Genuine, caring bedside manner.

Chesapeake is, however, very expensive. No getting around that. Hopefully your insurance covers at least a good portion (their staff is really competent and helpful with the admin aspects of that). Morse did not do nutrition (he’s not a nutritionist), but he did raise it as part of DC’s treatment plan.

Do they have experience handling HFA ASD / aspergers and AdHD inattentive?
Or at least spending some time and tactics sussing out if it’s one or the other or both, and how to treat?
Do they treat adults too?

We didn’t go with Chesapeake because it’s so expensive. We are with Potomac Psychiatry in Rockville. Supplements are part of DD’s treatment plan, and they recently added a nutritionist to the practice.

This is OP. Thank you, can you please let me know who you met at the center for the non- medical suggestions? Do they do any blood work to identify vitamin deficiencies? Thank you!!

Our psychiatrist is Dr. Gathi Abraham, unfortunately, he's moving overseas for a research opportunity and leaving the practice. He's been amazing and really helpful with non-medical interventions like a breathwork technique called Sky Breathing which research has shown is good for anxiety: https://event.us.artofliving.org/us-en/research/. We haven't done the class yet but have registered for next week for one of their kid's courses: https://skyschools.org/kids-teens/.

We also see Dr. Greenstone who is fantastic and really great at connecting with my child with ADHD.

We have see Dr. Marcou for and she is amazing. She is only in the US part time so that might not work for new patients.

Would not recommend them for ASD. Go to caatonline.com.

Chesapeake does take ADHD adults.
