is it safe to give Benadryl and tylenol at the same time

Anonymous
my 19 month old has a terrible ear infection in both ears and is an antibiotic but he still seems to be in discomfort and he has so much drainage coming from his nose -the doctor gave me the right dosage for his weight but I forgot to ask if it is safe to give both at the same time.

thx

p.s. I am not a dr. and I violated my own rule that if you have a question about your child's care you should call your ped, not get anonymous advice on the internet

Maybe because she wants to alleve her child's suffering. If you don't know how these common over-the-counter medicines are used, you might want to do a little information gathering before posting such a snarky post.

there are several ways to comfort a child besides drugging her! it's unbelievable how people downplay the seriousness of self medication!!!

crazy lady responses aside, might be worth a call to your pediatrician just to be sure. the nurse's line should be able to answer your question quickly. hope your little one feels better.

Maybe call your doctor and ask.

8:05PP clearly doesn't have a child with medical issues or have any compassion.

My understanding is that it is safe to give these medications together. But, definitely check with your Doc (I'm just a Mom).

I've given both together, and understand it to be safe, but my child has issues that are triggered by allergies. Benadryl isn't going to do anything for you child if the original trigger isn't allergies.

Well that's not true, Benadryl is used for many purposes besides allergies, it is even used in throat gargles in compouding pharmacies to numb soreness.
Aside from that, whenever you have a question about drugs being taken together besides calling your Dr. you can call your pharmacist. They can and will help you.
