I know this is an old thread, but reading this has made me so angry. I have asked all
of my son’s doctors and taken him to a bed wetting clinic. The doctors say he will grow out of as he matures. My son is embarrassed about his pull up especially since his younger brother is not in one. We have tried everything and limiting liquids doesn’t help once they start sports. Parents aren’t lazy and just letting their kids wear pull ups.

Why is he embarrassed? Tell him lots of kids use them, nothing to be embarrassed about.

My son 7 yo still wears pull-ups at night and we have hosted 3 sleep overs; two with a couple close friends and one with about eight boys. Remember that pull-ups are worn to bed so my son changes into a pull-up in his room right before lights out. No one is the wiser.

The real problem is going to a friend’s for a sleepover. We haven’t done overnights because of this. But I figure as long as I’m open to hosting it’s fine for a little while longer.

Don’t let pull-ups cause him to miss out on the fun.

Nobody cared.

Btw my son had his tonsils removed and he no longer wet the bed.

what do tonsils have to do with this?!

Your son comfortable with them? I would just tell him that even if one of his friends did find out he wears them it’s nothing that he should feel bad about. Chances are good that some of his friends have been in the same situation.

I absolutely had no idea this was even a thing. My 2 kids never wore pull ups day or night. I thought they were for toddlers. They went from diapers to underwear at age 2.5 and 3 and never had any accidents. I would have been shocked to have a parent tell me her kid needed pull ups after toddlerhood. I have definitely learned something.

Staying dry overnight is usually a hormonal thing and it’s perfectly normal for kids to not have control until age 8 or later. It’s easy to manage with overnight underwear and most kids will naturally outgrow it.

We gave my son a travel case to put the pull ups in to bring into the bathroom to change and told the other parents so they could guide him where to put it in the am. My son has asthma, and the asthma medicine can reduce the full sensation in the bladder for some reason which I think contributed for him - he even went to camp with pull ups and never told us it was an issue

So many kids use them like this, it’s not something that they even think twice about. Good chance that one or more of the other kids also had them. I worked as a camp counselor before and every year I had parents asking about it being okay if their kid wore nighttime pull-ups.

Anyone’s kids still just use regular diapers for night? We’ve tried other ones but the ones that seem to hold up the best are the regular Pampers
