Is it rude to tell your neighbor to wash their dirty car?

A little off topic, but at our modest snowstorm last winter, two neighborhood kids shoveled our sidewalk and walk to the front door and then asked to sign a paper for their school's community service program. Under the "good deed," they wrote "shoveling snow for elderly neighbors." My husband was miffed but I thought it was funny. Sometimes people get riled up for little reason.
