How liberal or conservative are the Virginia colleges?

They only "conservative" thing you hear there is some lone pro-life activist who hands out fliers and then all students saying they are being harassed.
Hope colleges more to the south like VT or UVA are more moderate.

Who did they name their law school after?

right?

and they took lots of koch money

I know most people here don't care about Radford, but it is in my child's top 2 options. The area is fairly conservative (not far from Blacksburg/VT), but I have seen plenty of posts from the school that make me think it is a much more inclusive place. Niche named it conservative, but it was based on a VERY small number of answers on their survey. My daughter would be entering as a dance major, and I know I have seen they/them pronouns in posts about their students. I think artists tend to be more inclusive as a group, so that makes me happy to see.

Her other option is a small school in MA that is about half performing arts students and had buttons to wear in the admissions office with your pronouns.

What Makes Patrick Henry College Different?
Patrick Henry College exists to glorify God by challenging the unacceptable status quo in higher education, lifting high both faith and reason within a rigorous academic environment; thereby preserving for posterity the ideals behind the "noble experiment in ordered liberty" that is the foundation of America.

Pretty sure we're just talking about VA state universities, not privates.

I would have passed on that. And the school.

Big 3
UVA - woke central
VT - mixed bag, some wokeness but cadet corp help to moderate overall
W&M - more of a traditional southern university with some preferred pronouns seeping in.

Rest of the pack
GMU & VCU - woke central
JMU - mixed bag
Rest lean more conservative, especially those in southern and western VA.

Which you are ok to do. No one is forcing you to like the same schools others do.

I was pleased to see it, as diversity and inclusion are important to my daughter.

She will probably wind up at Radford for financial reasons, and I am happy that there seems to be tolerance and inclusion there, despite the reputation of sw va.

Your kid is probably a lib now and too scared to tell you.

VT definitely

I’d pick GMU for a more conservative leaning student.

Yes, there are liberal protests but you’ll find them at any VA public university. GMU’s law school, and some other departments lean conservative.

+1

What on earth? It’s known for its libertarian Mercatus center. It’s law school is funded by Koch money and is named after the poster child of conservative activist judges, Scalia.

Are you triggered by your kid becoming a lib?
