Umich isn't prestigious. Emory has higher test scores (1390-1510 I believe) The difference in salary is due to engineering which Emory doesn't have. If Umich engineers are making 90k and the avg is 64k, that means the other grads are making 40-50k. Thus Emory grad are actually doing better at 60k, because that's an apples to apples comparison. Emory is better for health sciences, creative writing, neuroscience, and a host of others. |
Michigan business graduates also ahead of Emory for starting salary - $78k base vs. $69k. I would say top employers for Michigan business grads more impressive than Emory- PwC EY IBM Macy’s Deloitte J.P. Morgan Newell Brands Booz Allen Hamilton Accenture Black & Veatch Chewy.com Citi Grant Thornton KPMG SunTrust Vs. ACCENTURE CITI DELOITTE ERNST & YOUNG GOLDMAN SACHS GROUP GOOGLE, INC. JP MORGAN CHASE & CO. MCKINSEY & COMPANY MORGAN STANLEY PWC STRATEGY& |
Why are we even discussing this! Emory is not an engineering school, if your kid is not aware of it than they probably should study something else. Engineers often actually read the manual. |
Engineering circles would disagree - Emory's small classes would be attractive for engineering students |
By "engineering circles", if you are referring to the engineering sorority girls that now work at a cake shop making beautiful wedding cakes, I agree. |
This is my new favorite DCUM thread. Total insanity. Emory doesn’t have engineering but the nuts here won’t stop. |
DS graduated from Emory engineering school - what are you talking about? |
Chances are this thread was started by the same troll who can’t get over the fact that Michigan overtook UVA in the USWR rankings since last year. Too many negative comments about a Michigan with lots of inaccurate information provided. It’s really pathetic. |
You aren't guaranteed a sport at GA Tech, either. You have to apply to transfer to GA Tech. It's basically a 3-2 engineering program, similar to the 3-2 programs that dozens of schools run with Washington University and Columbia. |
"Prestige" as a measurement is not the same for engineering and STEM fields as it is for other fields. University of Illinois and University of Michigan and other state universities are well respected and hire out a lot of new grads at great salaries. After that, your career depends more on your skill set, your networking, and your hustle. You don't coast on your degree forever, the way lawyers do. |
+2. Huh? I mean, choose Emory if that's what she wants but, that statement about Emory and the more prestigious engineering program is not even remotely true. |
No DS did not. |
Montgomery College has the same program with GA Tech as Emory. |
this is brilliant trolling! |
