Oh I forgot to mention Wall Street. |
As opposed to the republicans who are completely incapable of any governance at all |
The democrats are on the right side of healthcare(millenials and minorities want universal healthcare), right side of hourly wage increase, right side of equal pay, right side of climate change, right side on abortion, right side on LGBTQ rights, right side on taxing the rich and more spending on education, right side on Dreamers, right side on worker re-training etc. There is not a single issue the GOP can get the millenials or the minorities or even the working class whites. All they have is demagoguery and inciting white identity politics and tax cuts for the rich. Everyone knows this and that’s why the GOP can no longer win popular cites. The party is driving itself into the ground with Trump. How do you think they will get the popular vote? Pleas explain with rationale. |
Your fixation with the popular vote is meaningless. The vaunted millennial is not living up to their reputations and not voting. They talk, text, blog, and tweet, make signs and hats- but don’t vote. Lucy and the football. |
Ok, so I agree with you that the Democrats are right about these issues- however when it is time to put the pedal to the metal, they f it up! |
You are in denial. Trumps approval has dropped in almost every state. GOP vote share has dropped by avg 10 points in every election since 2016 in every state. White vote share drops by 2% in every 4 years. Millenials are voting and even if they don’t vote loss of white electorate is a net loss for gop. |
Nope. Obamacare survives. Many climate rules survives due to Major blue states regulations still following Obama rules. Universal healthcare is coming one way or another sooner or later. LGBTQ rights CANT be rolled back. Abortion rights is the law. Except for tax cuts for the wealthy WHICH dems increase when they come to power there is nothing that the GOP has to show. Dems make long term directional changes to the country. The country moves to the beat of progressives. Learn to live with it. |
Obamacare cost the Democrats dearly... and we will have insanely high costs, no public option. and while the law has saved me, personally, from financial ruin, bolder measures would have been so much better. Are you so sure that progressives move the country? You know Republicans don’t actually care about LGBTQ issues or abortion, right? Those are wedge issues they use to rile up the rubes, and once the “culture” changes, they find a new wedge issue to rile up their base, like immigration. They care about making the rich richer while the rest of us schmucks work harder and harder for the same leftover scraps. Income inequality has increased so dramatically and so little has been done about it. And now politicians are basically bought by the highest bidder. I think the Republicans won what they really wanted. And I think that many Democrats are in on it too. |
The public loves Obamacare and thats why the GOP couldn't undo it. You are delusional. Republicans have no policy but the tax cuts for the rich. the democrats have healthcare, education, equal pay, minimum wage increase etc. The GOP cheats its voters and riles them up with white identity politics. The democratic party caters to the poor and middle class MUCH MORE THAN the GOP. |
The funny thing about Obamacare is that it's never been more popular. OH, wait, that's ACA not Obamacare /s (I was being sarcastic). It's so popular that a majority R congress couldn't repeal it. Income inequality is being exacerbated by the tax cuts which gave a much bigger cut to the top earners, and smaller as income goes down. I agree politicians are bought on both sides, but it was the Rs who fought against campaign finance reform, which conservative SCOTUS also sided with, that the Dems tried to push. E-verify has been fought by both sides -- years ago, Tea Party fought against it; and now in FL a rich GOP donor fought against it along with the Koch brothers. Liberals may care too much about illegal immigrants, but they aren't two-faced about it like the Rs. Progressive CA does lead the country in many ways, especially in environmental regulations (which a R governor in CA championed), and lgbtq rights But I agree, Rs will use these things as wedge issues and rile up their base to vote R. |
2004 was most likely won on the wedge issue of gay marriage amendments |
Ok, why are you being so aggressive and calling me delusional? You can't even be polite to someone on your side? I am one of the few liberals I know who thought Trump really could win the presidency, so maybe I am less "delusional" than you think. Democrats comfort themselves with the same things: we won gay marriage, demographics are on our side, all Republicans do is cut taxes for the rich. Yes, all Republicans want to do is cut taxes for the rich, and they are extremely successful at it! They don't really CARE about the cultural issues that Democrats "win," those are a means to an end. Meanwhile Democrats are letting organized labor languish (when is the last time you heard of a right to work state becoming non right to work again), courts Wall Street and Silicon Valley, proposes nothing but half-measures and half-fixes, and follows along with the Republicans' garbage foreign policy and military spending. The public does not "love" Obamacare. Obamacare was a minimal band aid to a failing health system, and many people recognize that. Of course Democrats cater to the poor and middle class much more than the GOP, if my cat were a politician he could manage to cater to the poor and middle class more than the GOP. |
