I see this is a really old thread, but I wonder if you ever had any success, OP? Or if you formed your group? I have a 2 year old but would be interested in joining. I haven't read 10 pages of replies or anything, but I do not plan to allow my child to spend too much time on homework in the early part of elementary school. I'm even thinking about going to a private school that's more in line with my philosophy for this very reason. Too much of the joy of learning is squeezed out of the kid. As far as middle and high school go, I think some homework is probably valuable. But not as much as some kids are getting.
