Potomac ECNL Boys ID Sessions - anyone hearing anything?

Anonymous
Having left Potomac in last years and knowing about this coach who was not very communicative or helpful, I think maybe the club need some praise for dealing with a problem for once. As parents we can sometimes complain but how often does a club act on problems? I agree that the timing is not very usual, and maybe the new director is ruthless to see what must change. Good luck to them.

Here is some fact-based speculation on the timing.

Two weeks ago, Potomac named Mark Holt as interim technical director. The club hasn't had a technical director for more than a year.

Holt is also an ECNL coach.

Was Wall was upset that he didn't get the interim technical director position?

Did Holt recognize there were problems?

Was Holt empowered to deal with problems that had been lingering?

From a business perspective, interim titles mean you are buying time to come up with a leadership plan/execution. But seems like the timing of the management influx signals were after the time shares were sold (ECNL/rl slots were filed) so you are buying even more time to come up with a long term solution where the customers are already locked in and can't balk because they supported the outgoing regime or dislike the incoming.

Coaching rosters haven't even been shared, how can rosters be locked?

Time shares get sold before they are even built.

heard some NL 09's have already received their invites for next season

Rather than speculate on a message board, why don’t some of you who have a kid at Potomac just ask? You may only get partial info because of privacy concerns but I’d be shocked if a general sense of what happened didn’t get out.

Wow, brilliant! I'm sure no one thought about that.

Sure doesn’t seem so based on wild speculation and making assumptions and talking about kids (though not by name) who are or aren’t playing this weekend. But I guess that’s what people do here.

I agree on PP, looks like on social posts that Potomac have upgraded lots of coaches and this was obviously not in agreement of previous regime. New guy has obviously taken chance to upgrade and dismiss the places needed.

They definitely will if one of your key employee goes to a competitor club.

I noticed the interim TD who is filling in for this guy was hired recently, or at least it was announced about 2 weeks ago. My theory is that the new boss pushed out the old guy in one way or another—whether it was the new boss cleaning house, or the boss’s boss preparing for an ouster.

You might be on to something )

I believe all current players have been offered slots (if they were going to get them) then they will move on to the non-Potomac players based on who accepts
