Recommendations for a good Pediatric Dentist in NoVa?

Anonymous
I need a new pediatric dentist, preferably in McLean/Arlington area. And pls, not Beverly Pediatrics--they're the ones we're leaving, after both of my kids developed appearing/disappearing cavities. (They claimed they had cavities that needed to be filled, couldn't show them on x-rays. DS had an orthodontist appt, coincidentally, who did xrays. I mentioned the multiple cavities--they gave me a strange look and said "what cavities"? When I complained at Beverly, they told me I must have misheard. Really, then why did DS have an appt to fill them?) But I digress.

I need a recommendation, please. Thanks.

My DD was terrified of the dentist. We'd been seeing the same pediatric dentist since her first appt. at age.. two I think?

We switched plans and went to a new dentist recently and my now 6 yo told me, "I am not afraid of the dentist anymore. Just send me back to THAT dentist".

Oddly, both my kids love the dentist. I mean LOVE the dentist. Yeah, they're weird.

In any case, we go to Dr. Gary Kramer in Burke. Great staff, lovely man. It's a little out of the way for me, but not a big deal 2x/year.

My kids love Dr G (as do many of their friends), and, like the kids of a PP, my older son keeps asking me to take him there!

We go to Dr. Jack Weil in Vienna. He is fantastic!!! I've heard about Dr. Mike in McLean and will avoid him!!!! He has makes several mom's I know very uncomfortable (in a creepy child molester way).

Dr. Weil's first visit is a "get to know you visit" and the office is very friendly. They are patient and every time I've been there I've never heard a child crying. They have an "open" area with 4 or 5 dental chairs right next to each other ... so maybe the kids see other kids doing it & it makes them feel more comfortable.

We love Dr. Niloo in Oakton. I practically have to bride DD to get her to leave each time. Always have had positive experiences with her and the place is very kid-friendly. http://www.oaktonsmiles.com/

If Dr. Reardon is a member of DCUM, maybe she can respond to this ... She was recommended to me but when I checked out her website I found that it discouraged parents from being in the room with their children during their visit. It is okay for the initial visit but after that it was discouraged. It also noted the addition of a third chair in the room and I wondered if this policy of no parents was in place before space was a bit tighter. Anyway, I called to ask about this since my child is barely 2 and it would be a long time until he went to any doctor appointment without a parent in the room and the receptionist response was the equivalent to something like, well (eyes rolling) if you really want to be there we would not tell you cannot be but it is really discouraged. And I did say the age of my child is not quite 2. Am I crazy or would others allow this to happen?

Another vote for Dr. Niloo in Oakton. She is wonderful and patient, even when a five year old is squirming all over the place.

Has anyone been to toothtown in Vienna? http://www.toothtownofvienna.com/ I'm thinking of trying them. My son is 22mo. & this will be his first visit.

Just wanted to chime in and my recommendation as well for Dr. Niloo in Oakton. She was simply wonderful with my son, and has a super kid-friendly practice. I wish we still lived in the area so we could go to her; she was that good.
