What dosage of prevacid is your infant on?

Anonymous
I'm curious what dosage of prevacid others' infants (12 mos or younger) are on. My daughter's dosage is above the regular adult dosage and it troubles me. Our insurance won't even pay for more than 30 solutabs, which for us less than 20 days worth.

So please tell me:
What dosage is your child on?
How old?

Thanks!

my sons 2.3 now but has been on meds most of his left

at 6 months and 10lbs 2 ounces he was on a whole tab (half a tab twice a day )

if you let me know an age and or weight I can go back through his records and see what he was on then

how old is your child? have you seen a specialist or is this script from a pedi?

Why is the dose what it is?

Is your child in pain when the dose is lower?

The children tabs and the adult tabs are two different concentrations, so your child is not on the same or higher dose as adults. They are different.

it's 15mg tablet. the OTC adult version I saw at CVS is the same strength for once a day (24 hours) although I believe some take higher dosages. and from what i know prevacid has not been approved by the FDA for infants.

my daughter takes about 25mg/day.

DS takes compounded liquid form -- 3 ml twice a day. He is 8 months old, about 20.5 lbs.

Is it true that the compounded version only lasts 2 weeks? Have you seen issues with that?

Mine took close to 30 mgs a day. Babies process it more quickly and usually need higher doses.

Talk to the doctor if you are concerned. But, I will say that you are lucky to have found a doctor that is up to date on the research which suggests that higher doses are more effective and safe for babies.

There is no such thing as a children's tab of Prevacid.

12 lb'er gets 2.5 mls once a day - liquid compound. Yes, we have to have it made every two weeks, but it hasn't been a problem. We work with our local Target and they've been hugely helpful with the compound schedule for the past four months.
