Burgundy washcloths in place of sanitary napkins

Anonymous
Well it sounds gross, I know. But I have a friend who does this: she has five rotating burgundy washcloshs which she simply rolls up in her panties and uses as a sanitary napkin. She says her system is ecofriendly (although I think she machine washes the cloths). I actually don't know why they would need to be burgundy.

Anyway, I am always looking for ways to cut down, and I'm thinking of giving it a whirl. What do you girls think?

Should this be on the farce thread instead?

OP here. Why would it be on the farce thread? I am serious. I spend a fortune on sanitary napkins and tampons. It seems like if you got an absorbant enough washcloth, it would work. Plus I hate the feel of the plastic edges of a sanitary napkin.

I have used tan ones. There are a bunch of advantages to using them besides the environment. They don't cost very much, they breathe, they don't move around, they don't require glue of any kind, they are softer and don't cause sweating.

You can buy cloth pads on Etsy if you don't want to use wash clothes.

You can also get reusable tampons as well.

hahaha! okay, I can kinda see using the pads. but the tampons are too funny.

I will use the eco-friendly feminine products when I have given up automobiles and electricity.

Neither could I when I was posting it. Every time I look at that tampon I wonder what exactly it's crocheted out of because I wouldn't want anything too scratchy.

Wow, that tampon looks like a fun knitting project - kind of a vj cozy.

If there is any hope that DH will do laundry, this will kill it dead.

I don't buy tampons and pads any longer. I love my DivaCup!

Ladies, if you are at all going in this direction, please try the DivaCup. Definitely the most ecofriendly and cheapest solution out there. This could replace tons of waste and it just makes sense. I wish it was given more publicity.
