Third grade spots at Sidwell...how many?

Anonymous
if it is an expansion year, does anyone know (current or former parent) what that means in practice? One more class of 20 added? Less?

It is an expansion year. Acc to NCES statistics, they typically add 16 kids to produce a third-grade class of 64.

OP here...is third grade a time when a lot of public school kids make the switch?

I am trying to gauge how competetive those 16 spots would be...as bad as the K year or equal??

I think not as bad for a few reasons... don't have as much of the gds maret beauvior competition and at 3rd grade i think its a little more about the child's achievement then the parents. I could be wrong but thats my intuition.
