Can I make chicken salad for sandwiches ahead of time?

Having a big party soon and am going to make chicken salad sandwiches. Can I make the chicken salad ahead of time, put it in tupperware in the fridge, and then make the sandwiches the next day to be eaten?

I wouldn't have given this a second thought except the recipe says you can make the sandwiches 1 HOUR in advance and then cover with moist paper towels and cellophane, then serve.

You can make the SALAD ahead of time, but I would make the sandwiches the day you are planning to eat them. Making the salad the day before will also allow the flavors to meld together. If you cover the sandwiches with moist paper towels and cellophane it helps to keep the bread soft and not dry it out. That is why they recommend making the sandwiches 1 hour before your party.

You can also make the sandwiches a day ahead as long as the chicken salad is not too "wet" and you store the sandwiches properly. Make the sandwiches, wrap them individually in wax paper, place them back in the plastic bag the bread came in, and then stick the bread bag filled with the sandwiches in the fridge. If you are cutting the bread into little bite size or half sandwiches or removing the crusts, freeze the bread before you start making the sandwiches. It is much easier to cut it when it is frozen.

Thanks everyone. I'm completely fine with making the sandwiches the day of, but it will be a big help to make the salad the day before. So I should just make the salad, put it in some tupperware, and I'll be good to go?

Oh yes, you should be fine! I always make chicken salad and have it for lunch for a couple of days.
