We attended a wedding of a mutual friend about 5 years ago. She has a fabulous body is tall and lithe but a super homely face. She thinks she is now the cats meow and even has a Instagram referring to herself in the third person "THE LSD". Major eye roll. Get over yourself.

Tried to get into a club my family has belonged to for over 50 years and they were not accepted. She is doing her absolute best to become a NYC queen. But there are some circles that will not have it.

Grew up with these kinds of people my entire life. Some are real but many are full of themselves in a reverse showoff kind of way. They go out of their way to wear an old shirt, or banged up boat shoes but never forgetting their LV lockjaw.

Married a "normal" guy from the West Coast and was so happy to be able to become part of a more normal world. Welcome relief!

She's trying hard to be the second Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy. I think this is why she didn't fix her nose.

For sure but to those in the know, she will always be the quintessential "wanna be"

I grew up with them too and happy to be out of NYC. But I’m dying to know which club. Maidstone? Piping Rock? The Bathing Corp?

Bathing Corp

Another one who grew up around this sort of thing. “The LSD” is cringey, as are her besties, Derek Blasberg et al. They’re painting a somewhat convincing portrait on Instagram, though, but we all know how fake social media is. Truthfully, it seems like they all live more for the impression/pretense than anything else.

Found this bc I was googling a few private clubs. Crazy post!

Anyone have info on Maidstone, Piping Rock or The Bathing Corp?

Is this a joke? The only people I know going to Fla are people who can't afford NYC but would do anything to stay and the 70 and above crowd.

This post aged well. The most exclusive Florida real estate is all at least 2x in the 3 years since this post. Because none of New York's elite moved there. lol

I worked for someone that was/is best friends with the Lauders. Interesting family!

There's very little that's special about these people other than growing up privileged and entitled because of generational wealth.

Yeah, but that is the absolute striver-strive for the DCUM crowd - who believe, in their minds, that they and their Neverfull are "elite". LOL. Alas, if you could only breathe the same air, but that will never happen.........

Lmao I live in NYC.. they’re still here and haven’t left. Also, real estate in NYC hasn’t devalued at all. It’s actually skyrocketed in fact.

Yes it has, thankfully!

"High society" just does not apply to the USA, sorry. Please don't be shy - just say the rich.

Now, if you were to talk about Europe, you could say the aristocracy, and talk about salons, etc. Or if you were to talk about ancient Chinese civilizations or the Indian caste system, yes, there might be a "high society" there. But America?

Don't make me laugh, OP.

LOL! Dummies who fetishize Europeans are the best. You’re an undergrad , protesting in the quad and droning on about your semester abroad. You except doing it for the rest of your life. 🤣🤣🤣

So cringe.

When DCUM area people get smug and judgy, it makes me snicker, not going to lie.

They want to be Marina Rust.

DP here. I totally agree. They think that most people don't know, and maybe they don't - but those that do know think you look oh so silly trying to emulate her. Yeah, you do! Silly girl, you.

And you don't know who knows by looking at them and judging them with your oh so narrow DCUM parameters. Your bag? It doesn't matter nearly as much as you think it does, for one.
