College Placement Disappointment from Big 3 Grads?

I can assure you that at her school the only people beating the top SAT/grade situations are people who have given huge sums of money. They are the ones who fund the scholarships for the less advantaged. If not top grades/SATs/huge donor; then you're talking about a recruited athlete. And, yes, my daughter is one -- but she also had to have top grades/SATs. The only other exception are urms.

If you are referring to Harvard as the "top-ranked" Ivy your kid attends just say so. All ivies are not the same.

1. What is the top ranked Ivy? (Name your source or metric)
2. Did you or your family give huge sums of money to this school?
3. Are you paying for your daughter to attend ths Ivy league school?
4. Your daughter has a brother in the 8th grade. Has he gotten into STA yet or is he still trying?
5. Why do you feel that red shirting leads to statutory rape?
6. Since your relocation from the mid-west to the D.C. area has your sense of smell changed? Do you still find stinking bathrooms in the area public schools?
7. Since we last chatted did Prozac improve your signs and symptoms of paranoid schizophrenia and your hallucinations?
8. You'd be surprise to learn, much to my chagrin, we do have something in common? Have you heard of Calhoun College?

addendum to pp:

She is not referring to Harvard.
Let's see if she knows about Calhoun College?

George Bush was a freshman at Yale nearly 50 years ago people! times have changed. Admissions to the Ivies are nearly impossible w/o a "ticket" -- huge donor; recruited athlete; urm; top scores; favorable geography

The previous poster asked you some pointed questions. Do not evade and change the subject. Of course, Bush went to Yale nearly 50 years ago. So did I!

Also, add connections to that list. By the way, in these here parts, the term is "hook" not "ticket."

...Still evading

Where did she (mis) learn English?

Why are you the dictator? People can use whichever words they choose as long as the words are not offensive or foul.

Oh...so you went to Calhoun Community College in Alabama? Yale didn't take women when George Bush attended it. So you're a creepy old man trolling DCUM.

Both the NIH and GW posters need to get a room. Please take your fight some place else. Especially, the NIH poster. This is the second thread in which you appear to have gone off your rocker.

To get back to the topic at hand. My grandfather was president of a 2nd or 3rd tier university on the East Coast. When I was applying to grad school he had long since retired, but he offered to call the place up and get me admitted, just like that. I didn't take him up on it because I didn't want to go there (with 99pctile on the GREs I did better on my own). But this does happen.

Re 11:34 -- Maybe it's all just a really sophisticated "inside" joke that we were too dumb to get. In other words, 11:34 took everybody she's ever fought with on multiple threads (including, apparently, ivy admissions, red shirting, St. A's, public versus private school, Calhoun college, and others), and balled them into a single "enemy" that she's been fighting ever since. That is, she's created her own magnificent, grandiose, paranoid or hallucinogenic (sic) "ideation". Wink, wink. And we didn't even get it!

Although I think not. I, for one, would be happy to see her banned from DCUM. She doesn't just insult people. She shuts whole threads down by harassing other posters, as she did to this one before JSteele intervened. In fact, I was going to email him before he came in on his own. (But I'm still curious about Calhoun College.)
