Are "Nature's Promise" products safe?

I do not believe any mass-produced product sold at Giant with the label "organic" is truly organic. It's very difficult to grow completely organic food, even in your own back yard. Even if you use no pesticides, previous owners of your house may have used DDT, and it's still there, a half-century later. Pesticides from your neighbor's lawn-care company can be blown over into your yard, contaminating your "organic" garden.

It's best to know the company, know the farmer, do as much research as you can, and then wash everything before cooking, and hope you have a healthy immune system. Processed food is processed food, whether it's called "organic" or "natural" or whatever. It ain't healthy.

Well, I assume you don't live here in DC, because that is just impossible.

Now I'm getting worried!

Yes, good grief. I buy Horizon and Nature's Promise milk depending upon which is cheaper that week and am satisfied with both. If you can afford to buy locally raised, free range, 100% organic everything, great - but most of us cannot. Removing pesticides and hormones from your family's food and buying things that meet USDA organic standards is still a major improvement over traditional factory farmed meat and dairy. Stop worrying about what the "organic police" militants here have to say and do the best you can.

Natures Promise Organic Free Range chicken has 5% water retention. I made chicken soup with both free range Natures Promise and D'Agastino free range organic. The difference was more the just the price difference. Natures promise failed in the tast and tenderness test. Dagastino ($6.lb))has no retained water because its air frozen which also lessons the pathagens. Natures Promise organic free R is water cooled and has %5 retained water.

Good reading here. I try to stay informed. But I get the suspician that some of you should just own a cow. I live in a rural area but I cannot get locally-grown produce mist of the time. The farms in the area are well-manicured, because the County pays $$$$$$ for the development rights, so the Gentleman Farmers don't have to grow anything. It's mostly soybeans for processing, if anything.

In the meantime, I have to buy produce grown in FL, CA or Mexico almost all year.

But I CAN get locally-raised free range eggs. I'm just limited by my diet as to how many I can eat.

Just bitchin'.

Sorry.

I use Natures Promise where I can because it's generally LESS processed, and it's available locally, in prices that are affordable.

Why is it so hard in DC to know your farmer? I live in the DC area and I frequent farmers markets. I've talked to the farmers there. I buy from some, not from others. I don't think it is that hard nor is more expensive.

Ditto to it being fairly straight forward to "know your farmer" in DC, for all your fruit, veggies, meat, eggs, and dairy. Farmers markets, CSA, dairy delivery...DC has it all. It can be more expensive if you do all that and then also buy other food from the supermarket, but if you shape your diet around what you get at the farmers market you can eat well on a budget. However, the thing it does take a good deal more of is TIME.

I searched the Web for answers to where the Natures Promise products are grown. I had no luck finding and answer. my main concern is are the products ingredients grown out of the country, in places like China and Mexico, etc.

My issue with Nature's promise is this... for years i ate their "natural" chicken because it had no antibiotics, no this and no that, but especially cus it was fed a vegetarian diet. well...so why did they come out with a line of organic chicken??? i assume now, it was because the feed they were giving the natural chicken contained GMO...and now the organic line doesn't. i don't know but i am all the way pissed off that this is the case. For 10 years i though i was doing good to my body just to realize i was probably eating GMO all the while. #sad

Actually, Horizon, spent a ton of money, to keep the gmo labeling laws from passing.... any GMO supporter, isn't a company to buy from. You can guarantee they're at least feeding those cows GMO corn etc.... I have wasted a lot of money purchasing Horizon milk, cheese etc and will never do so again! Good Luck!

I was also disappointed with Nature's Promise "natural" chicken because I thought it was organic. Then I realized it didn't have the USDA certified organic seal on the package which to me says chickens were fed GMOs. According to the FDA all chicken has to be free of antibiotics,
etc. so what makes Nature's Promise so special???????

I blindly purchased a method product with loyalty due to clean-ingredients media coverage and then read the label and discovered they use artificial dyes and artificial fragrances.

Weird. This is my first visit to this site and I am loving it.
For a little while now, my gut told me Nature's Promise has some scam going on...I will continue to track this site for updates.
Also, very glad to hear about Horizon.

Now can anyone comment on the organic labeled fruits and veggies coming over from France???

Read organic labels carefully . Stop n shop pumpkin seeds are made in China!! Will never eat made in China food . The Chinese are filthy in their quality control . They killed my dog by menu foods -a lousy company who outsourced nutro dog food in china . They make me sick !!! Boycott any food from china . If they killed my Shetland sheepdog - they can kill us too ! They killed 20+ of their own people with tainted cough medicine few yrs ago . This has to stop now!!!!!!!
