You're a moron. That's exactly why ppl have a right to know. What is the integrity of this person in her capacity as one who works with kids. That's what I was saying & thought you'd have the intellect to pick up on. Anyways, you can argue all day about what's your right- just like it's gun owners rights to bare arms and tote a gun at a parade, just because they have the right... though there is no real reason to. All of you bashing Atasha or Principal James should be ashamed of yourself. The news got it wrong thanks to a hatefilled teacher at Leckie. She went out on leave! She is an amazing leader who has done right by the kids and families of ward 8. What she has done for the community has always been public. Did you send a note of appreciation? This reminds me of the time the two principals were shot. Someone ran through the thread trying to spin tales about how they were in Barry Farms setting up for a student event--only to have DCPS state they were not there on official business. It was also pointed out that it made no sense for them to be out in the snow that was so bad it closed DC schools for days to set up for an event that didn't exist.

I don't understand people trying to lie and cover for these people. Especially when the arguments are so ridiculous.

Actually it's none your folks business and all of you need to find a hobby or get a job!!! LOL But if you must know...her and others at the school were committing residency fraud. Maybe some of you to...hahaha. So she didn't go on voluntary leave. That you can stop right not. She quit before she got fired. Who does that if you're not guilty. She thinks she's all that and a bag of chips....NOT! At least not anymore...hehe. I hope she has money saved to pay for that nice big house that she doesn't have in DC.

Leckie does as well on the PARCC as Francis-Stevens, Powell, and lots of other schools with longer waitlists, it's convenient for my commute, and it outperforms my IB school. You get 12 schools in the lottery--might as well use them all.

Leckie does well given the demographics but not correct that the PARCC scores are the same as Francis.

PARCC 3 and above:

Math: Leckie 35%; Francis 68%

Huh. I agree this is weird to bump from a year ago. We are a military family at leckie. We have had good experiences. I think last year was a mess but how could it not be with the principal leaving after the year started? This year has been so much better. Principal Wilson has my vote for now. She gave her personal cell phone number out to parents. That’s a first for me.

Exactly. I’m the PP that said good things. Are there things about leckie that I would change? Sure. But we are having a good experience and it’s far from “shit”. We love our child’s teacher (and last years teacher too), we love City year, there are a ton of after school activities for students to participate in, the admin team is warm and friendly, the parent coordinator is wonderful, the specials teachers are really good and know what they are doing (especially music and PE), the before care staff is friendly, the outdoor classroom is amazing. So, yeah, not shit.

*and before I get called the current principal or a booster like I see people being called on here, I am not. We are a military family.
