Yeah. It has a lot of history. Hell--it was a big deal when I was in high school in the 80s, but my parents thought the neighborhood was too dangerous back then for my brother . One thing I will say---it has a ton of lifelong connections. We can be anywhere in the world and if one of my kids has something with GZ on it--there is alum that will come over and chat---from 18-80+. There is a big network. |
My son found the GZ network to be even better than the one at his private college. |
I realize ig is public but I don't love that it's shared here while my kid is on it. |
Hmm. Weird logic. I guess NCS and STA are not private because of their affiliation with the Episcopal church? I assume Sidwell is not private because it is affiliated with the Quaker church? All of these schools also have chapels and a meeting house on campus. |

Ditto, it’s sad to see the intent of Gonzaga go so far off the rails since my family attended in the 40’s and throughout the years and even now. I’d say it’s the “it” school for 20% of the around 50 cousins/nephews/etc in our family and that’s okay. It’s not a great school for some and it’s an amazing school for others. They don’t produce a Caleb nor did they creat a Ken. |
It seems very cult-ish. The parents all seem to be country club types who are re-living their high school experiences via their kids. Went to a game there and the students were very out of hand and saying nasty things to the parents of their opponents. |
This whole thread is so embarrassing and supports the reasons we turned "it" down. |
No, it's just big so more boys you know go there than other privates. |
C'mon, give Gonzaga its moment. Just had two kids picked in top 11 in NFL draft. Very good p.r. for the school. Hope Caleb Williams succeeds in Chicago! |
You know that this is how this all works, right? Good grief. |
I think my DS knows yours. Great choices. Congrats. |
Gonzaga is a great institution for boys! |
Woo hoo 🎉 |
