To me, there is a big difference between having sexual encounters as a couple with another couple in a private setting vs going to a sex club where there are lots of people. The former seems to be more of sexual exploration. I would imagine the latter is more for people who have exhibitionist tendencies?

Huh. I have never done the former, but have done the latter. The former seems like it would take a lot of planning, meeting people, getting the kids out of the house,etc.
The latter is something you can spontaneously decide to do on a date night.

Have done it with my DH, but have never done any swinging. It was my idea (DW) and it was fine. Kind of fun, but strip clubs can be a bit depressing, IMO.

My first husband was into sex clubs and I was aiming to please so I went along. He really got into it but all I felt like was a piece of meat. I’m not a prude but multiple partners of both sexes was just not my thing. I remarried 20 years ago and I’m happy to live a monogamous lifestyle.

And I know this can be interpreted in a bad way, but if I am going to have sex with another person, I don't want my DH to be there.

Yes, there is something that goes against my perception of sex as a private act between me and another person. I would feel disgusted seeing my partner's D next to other man's D in someone's P. Ashamed of him seeing me f..ed by someone else. I don't want also to do anything to other women, particular below the mid section
