My DC is on the VT waitlist and we are hoping and praying they are accepted, though we know itβs a longshot. VT was absolutely their first choice but without ED, thereβs no way to prove it. Really wish they hadnβt gotten rid of ED. Good luck to all the others waiting anxiously! |
Oh come on, TJ kids have been turning their nose up at VT for years. Some families now see the financial benefit, but many students still trash talk VT and parents frequently claim on this board that "only the bottom of the class" selects VT. AOs learned TJ kids use VT as a safety and have adjusted admissions accordingly so stop clutching your pearls. |
The TJ kids I know certainly don't look down on VT. What a bizarre claim. DP |
Really? You must be new to this area or DCUM. Just look at any TJ/VT posts on this forum. |
Thanks for admitting VT yield protects! That was like pulling teeth! As for the rest of your sentences.. duh! You still haven't pointed out where I said anyone is entitled to an 'admittance'. |
Key words: this forum. There are one or two trolls who constantly post ridiculous things like that. |
Um... I was admitting to the "yield management" comment - duh, yourself. I stand by that, too. ALL selective schools manage their yield, which isn't the same as yield protection, as another PP spelled out for you. And the fact that you're *still* complaining about your kid not being accepted makes it abundantly clear that you do feel he was entitled to an admittance. Otherwise, you'd shrug it off like a normal person instead of rehashing your story over and over. And you're replying to two different people here, btw. |
+1 I have a kid at TJ and so many students there are gunning for VaTech. |
Because VT has LONG WL the top applicants. They suspect it is a safety and they they USED to say if you are high stat and want in, you have to ED so they know you are serious. They waitlisted my 4.6GPA top 1% of class, 1580 single attempt SAT, leader of every tech club out there kid also a couple years ago and gave direct admits to truckloads of kids with lower stats from his school. He declined the WL but we were told by an AO that he WOULD get in from the WL but as high stats you either go in ED or WL. That is their MO and has been for a long time. I expect my next comparably mediocre kid to get in next year bc he is in their sweet spot. Obviously nothing to worry about for you- plenty of excellent options. |
DP. What a truly inane post. How many times have you posted this? |
