Matthew Rojansky, Director of the Wilson Center’s Kennan Institute, told CNN’s Don Lemon Monday evening that Russian President Vladimir Putin had a lot to say about the two-hour meeting with President Donald Trump.

They talked about a deal in southern Syria, which would possibly be about pushing Iranian forces out,” he explained. “That this had been pre-agreed with the Israelis. That this would increase security. But in exchange [Bashar al] Assad clearly was going to re-take the country. Putin noted he already had 90 percent of the country.”

They also evidently discussed Ukraine.

“And Putin described something as ‘a very interesting offer,'” Rojansky said. “We don’t actually know of what the offer consisted, but it’s very interesting to me that they discussed Ukraine and Putin said that there is ‘an interesting offer’ there.”

He then said that the “kicker” was that they spoke about sanctions without talking about sanctions.

“So, when asked whether Putin asked for sanctions relief, Putin, of course, as a matter of Russian pride and also, I think, a negotiating tactic, knowing Trump could hand over sanctions relief, he simply says, ‘No but we talked about the interests of our two business communities in increasing economic ties and how we might do that in the current environment.’ So, that’s code for, ‘Yeah, they talked about how to get around sanctions.’ They actually had it as surprisingly substantive conversation. We heard none of it in the press conference,” Rojansky closed.

This clandestine meeting between a Oligarch and and wanna-be is everything against what American has stood for so far. Trump is selling the country and other countries for his personal gain. How long will GOP and trump defenders keep their heads buried in sand?

In addition to the above news Americans have to first hand account of what actually happened. This is scary and disgusting!

US offers no details as Russia claims Trump and Putin reached military agreements

Russia announced it was ready to pursue agreements reached by Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump "in the sphere of international security," though the White House and Pentagon would not confirm any agreements had been made or offer any details.

Trump and Putin met for about two hours during their summit in Helsinki with only translators present. It is still not clear what the two men discussed or agreed to during their meeting.

The deal is to let Russia have eastern Ukraine AND Crimea, it appears, in return for getting Iranian troops out of Southern Syria. I had previously heard ALL of Syria, but I guess our master negotiator couldnt get even that. It would of course be impossible to enforce, and would be a disaster for us in eastern europe.

I don't like letting Russia have eastern Ukraine and Crimea--but, isn't that pretty much what they already have done? For the last few years? Wouldn't getting Russian troops out of Syria be a plus? A step in the right direction?

Wouldn't it have been better had the prior administration done something when this first happened?

The prior administration did do something when Russia took Crimea. Also, it's not getting Russian troops out of Syria, it's giving Syria to Russia and getting other troops out of Russia. Possibly.

Trump agree to hand over Eastern Ukraine and Syria to Putin . No biggie, right?

Wait, wouldn't getting Iranian troops out of Syria be bad for *us*, not Russia? Wouldn't that be good for Putin/Assad?

It would be good for Israel. Probably. Maybe. It would be good for Russia.

The Russian position in eastern Ukraine is tenuous, and in Crimea not recognized by the world. And what I heard is that it would be getting Iranian troops out, not Russian troops. Russia would get to keep Syria, but Iran would be kept away from the Israeli border (this is why Bibi was pushing for the summit) Its not clear how pro-Iranian Afghan militias (now present in Syria) or Hezbollah would be treated. I don't recall exactly where I read this, might have been haaretz (lefty Israeli paper)

In the short term. I think the strategy of relying on Moscow and pissing off the EU is terrible for Israel, long term.

PP here. I agree with you. Inviting Russia further into Syria seems like it would only make the ME worse, ultimately. Although I wonder how much Russia will be able to use Syria, since Russia is broke.

This is what we get when we have someone in the Presidency with no foreign policy experience, no understanding of history, and the lack of desire to learn either of these through briefings. We have a stooge and moron running things.

Yup this whole deal is created between Bibi and Putin and Trump (as a Putin stooge) has agreed to it. The information about this deal is breaking from Russian TV first.

BTW - Trump is saying hea has also made a deal with Putin with Russia.

So basically USA foreign policy in middle east, eastern Europe and south Asia is now controlled by Putin - Trump handed that over to him in his secret meeting.

Jfc this is ridiculous. Wake up America.
