Hopefully I am not the only one faced with this problem: the last soccer game of the season and thus the end of season party is at 10 AM Saturday June 02. Looks like heavy rain and thunder all day. Ideas on where to find an indoor location, free, last minute, available for the morning? I checked the libraries and the only times available are in the afternoon; we have two team members leaving after our scheduled morning game and moving to other states. The community centers book a month advance, I was told. Way too many kids to host in my house, and I'd suggest Nottoway under a shelter but not with the thunderstorms. Ideas? TIA. |
What about a church? |
Someone's house?
Did you try the McLean Community Ctr? |
I would ask if anyone is willing to host in their house. I am not really aware of many free indoor venues. |
What about meeting at the food court at Tysons? At 10 am the one up by the movies should be fairly empty. |
Are we all invited? |
Go to Dunkin Donuts on Maple Ave. Have a quick donut, say great season everyone and be on your way. The parents will appreciate this. How old are the kids? It doesn't have to be a big get together.
Other options but some may be crowded or booked, Donatos, Amphora, Church St Pizza, any frozen yogurt place. Foster's Grill is a favorite but I'm sure the teams already have it reserved. |
Have everyone pay for their own family. That is as close to free as you are going to get. It is too late and too much of a hassle to collect money. |
OP here: McLean Community Center charges, sadly. Hadn't thought about a church - will check. I think ten kids plus siblings, parents, and coaches ... too overwhelming for anyone's home but I did ask all the parents! Love the food court at Tyson's idea. |
When my kid was at VYS, all of the season-ending parties were at someone's house. |
As a parent, I don't want to go to Tyson's on a Saturday to meet at the food court. How about meeting for lunch at Lost Dog? |
Duck Donuts or Elevation Burger |
OP again: I reserved a room at Oakton Library. The time is not what I wanted, but can't be helped. Thanks for all the ideas.
Just in case anyone is doing the same research: we all signed up to bring food so I didn't want to hold this at an eatery. (And it feels wrong to use their space w/o buying food.) My house is not big enough for the crowd and in the 8 years of playing VYS soccer, we have never had a party at anyone's house and none of our parents volunteered. A church would have worked, but I don't have a connection to any church to call. Agree that driving to Tyson's is not good. Thanks again! |
EOY party at a library? Why even do it, you vienna folks are living up to our expectations. |
Depending on the age group kids love those bounce houses. |
