What do Atheists believe?

Can you explain your thought and feelings about life?

Atheism is simply the lack of belief in a god or gods.

Nothing more.

Yeas, tearing down “religion”, which is the code word for Christianity. I personally knew two hard core atheists in my life. One who was also a socialist never, ever mentioned any religion in any conversation. He was that convinced of his unbelief. I respect people like that. Luke warm atheists who survive on tearing down Christianity, not so much.

Can you explain your thoughts and feelings about life and why you follow a "god" whom has never shown anyone proof of existence. Can you explain how religion has been changed over the years, and why we have so many different forms of Christianity and other religions (which were really changed by kings, popes, and others who claimed something different from what they were taught)?

Please start your own thread, I am interested in hearing from atheists. Thanks.

The only other related belief I have is that religion has no place in our government or public schools. Do what you want in your home and place of worship. Keep it out of the greater society.

What’s greater society? I have never heard that term before?

The collective US. Not subcultures that revolve around a particular religion.

By that logic influences of Judaism, Mormonism, Islam, Wicca, Paganism, Satanism, Hinduism etc. should also be kept out of collective US. Those are also "subcultures" as you call them.

Does that mean people who are religious should only be religious in their homes and places of worship?

Of course. Subcultures can do what they want in private but none of that has any place in government or public schools.

That would be ideal but I’ll settle for out of government and public schools.

For me, it is simply the lack of belief in any god. And FWIW I was a skeptic from a very early age. My parents are low-key mainstream Christians, and we attended an Episcopal church. I have early memories of non-belief. I think to some extent a propensity to believe or not believe is an underlying, unchangeable personality trait.
