McLean School in Potomac, MD

Do you know if the McLean School takes medical insurance for part of its tuition like the Lab School does?

Also, are there any thoughts on the school itself? I considering it for high school for my child who has anxiety and depression and auditory memory learning differences. I want a nurturing, supportive environment with a sensitive touch.

Thanks!

Also, are there any thoughts on the school itself? Waste of money and tuition will continue to go up because they have this capital campaign going on now to increase the size of the school. They will need someone to fund it -- families. I considering it for high school for my child who has anxiety and depression and auditory memory learning differences. They do not have the skilled staff to support your child although they will say they do. I want a nurturing, supportive environment with a sensitive touch. Yes, you will get this but not to critical support that your child will need to thrive.

Thanks!

I just went to tour
They were pretty clear they didnt focus on emotion and social. I was surprised as most kids with ADHD have difficulties here too

They cannot deal with any behavior issues and will interpret social and emotional as behavioral.

Agree that it is a waste of money.

Couldn’t agree more with the above post. Don’t fall for the hype.

They are also very punitive in the way they deal with typical middle school behavior. They can only deal with emotionally fragile or non-reactive kids. If a kid laughs at another kid and the kid laughed at complains, the kid that laughs is punished and treated like a bully. Middle school head is the worse.

NP here. I would love for my kid to go to a middle school that took bullying seriously.

Are you serious? This sounds like typical pre-teenagery behavior. Well, I guess you have a fragile snowflake will fit right in.

This is my DD's first year at McLean, and we are delighted with what a kind, supportive environment it has provided.

I guess you are a parent of a bully. Those are the only people who aren’t against bullying.

Expelling your child was really for the best.

My child wasn’t expelled. They are actually thriving in a traditional private high school and have transitioned to the real world nicely. How about yours?

Wow this post has really hit a nerve with 16:07. Yikes.

I’ve heard turnover in the middle school is high and few kids stay for high school. Is that true?
