Two more students accepted to all 8 Ivies this year

Congrats to Mekhi Johnson of Baltimore, and Anna Rezk of NJ. He wants to be a lawyer, and she has hopes of becoming a physician. Amazing and inspiring young people!

Well neither of them can attend all 8 schools, so its the same congratulations to anyone who has been accepted to 1 ivy at the end of the day, isn't it really...

This kind of thing encourages trophy seeking, which is pathetic.

No, it really isn't.

+1 getting into one elite as a legacy is already a challenge. Someone accomplishing that eight times is eight times more appealing as a student.

Just as pathetic as a child inheriting $200 million from their parents (e.g., Donald Trump)?

Or maybe many talented students stopped at one acceptance after EA or ED. Or maybe other students realized that Columbia isn't much like Cornell, and directed their efforts to other non-ivy schools similar to Columbia.

These kids get trotted out every year and it does get tiresome. To a thoughtful person, there are meaningful difference between the eight ivy league schools in terms of strength of discipline, location, size, culture, etc. To mindlessly spray out eight applications and presumably another eight to cover your bases with the Stanfords, MITs, and the like seems like a chase for glory, not a rationale process. This suspicion of course is only confirmed by the fact that these applicants and/or their parents contacted the media to share their joy with the world.

All these bitter people are actually starting to make me laugh. At first it was sad, but now it is just ridiculous their inability to understand these kids are simply better.

You could poison your H when your child is 13, that seemed to help the NJ girl.

I agree with this, unfortunately. There's such a huge difference between these schools that there was clearly one motivation, and it had nothing to do with seeking the right fit for the student.

Better than "whom?" I think she means you.

+ Infinity! Who knew some people can have so much venom in them that it bubbles out even from what they write. I just hope their children don't learn from their parents, else the children's long lives will be so miserable.

That is quite a leap from someone sighing over the repeated press stories like this and someone "spewing bitter venom" people. Gain some perspective here.

Oh neat, a couple more token minority braggarts when these colleges are overwhelmingly affluent legacy Asian Jewish kids.
