Do you feel like something has changed after Parkland?

GOP is getting slammed on Twitter over this.

I feel like there is definitely more anger against the gun lobby and politicians who are supported by it out there. And I see more people willing to get involved either by donating or advocating.

I am curious if that is what your are seeing.

I wish I could say something changed, but no I don't think it will. When nothing happened after Sandy Hook I realized it never would. The gun fetishists decided that their hobby/ Rambo fantasies/ misreading of the second amendment/ gun sales or whatever was more important than the lives of six year olds. Just think about that...

I feel potential energy. Unlike the friends of the dead first graders, the teenagers at Parkland can organize a response.

But there needs to be focus. Repblicans caved to the Alex Jones loons after Sandy Hook

Well, I don't see it this way. The civil rights movement had a lot of setbacks, yet it ultimately succeeded. That's my inspiration. I don't think anyone forgot SH. I think if anything, Parkland brought that back to the forefront

I’m not in social media so I don’t know the current tenor as far as that goes, but if Sandy Hook couldn’t move Us? I have my doubts.

The parents of Sandy Hook have organized.

I think what is different here is that the kids themselves are speaking out in ways that victims at Las Vegas or other recent school shootings are not. There are a couple that were armed with actual facts and figures when being interviewed that come off as smart and confident in a way that makes DC politicians looks foolish.

And for people like Marco Rubio and the FL Governor, where statements were made after Pulse that have, in retrospect, been completely hallow, that hypocricy is being completely exposed.

So, for me, if these kids stay organized and use social media in a positive manner, I think there is opportunity for them to turn out youth vote in a big way this fall.

One has to keep asking, where are there popular legislative proposals that both sides claim to support that are not getting done? Right now, everyone wants DACA, yet the GOP won't put a clean DACA bill on the floor. Everyone wants some form of assault weapon ban and more limits to access by people with mental impairments or other background flags, yet the GOP won't touch this. I know there are things the dems don't support too, but it is accute right now with the GOP, and the immovability on their part could come back to bite them.

Hope the momentum keeps going until November.

I don’t know the details of that school’s security. Now I’m hearing a teacher called in the breach. The left is saying there was an officer on premise and the school was secure. That can’t be

It's not "the left" saying, it's the superintendent.

Even more important where was the officer? Was he killed? If the security was as the super said, how did he get in?
