I've read through some threads on here. Anyone currently on phen? Not in DC so I won't be able to do the pro part of the program. There is someone local weightlossnyc clinc in Bay ridge. I'm going to make an appointment tomorrow. Any chance someone from NY area who had gone here?
Anyone just starting? Or currently on phen? What is your eating schedule or go to meals? |
I did just Phen in the fall. I didn’t even have much weight to lose (really only wanted to lose about 10 pounds I put on by having to try various hormonal medications, my doctor gave it to me despite not being obese). I really was not hungry much, especially the first week or two. I didn’t really change WHAT I ate, just how much.
I took off about 8 pounds and have kept it off for almost 4 months so far. It was the jump start I needed. It did help me realize that I didn’t need as many calories as I thought and I’ve formed some better habits. |
I've been on just phen since November. I'm down about 10lbs. I have about 10-20 to go (I'm really not sure what my goal weight should be, to be honest). I see a huge difference in just 10lbs though... clothes are looser/too big, stomach flat, etc.
The BIGGEST thing is I actually feel full. I can eat a normal portion of food, and be satisfied and full until the next meal time. No snacks needed. I do eat pretty healthy for the most part but if I want to go out to eat and splurge, it's fine because I literally can't stuff myself. The phen makes it so that I get full quickly and am just done with it, as opposed to before I could put away a TON of food and still go for dessert. I am still on it but the portion control is the habit I'm hoping sticks around. |
Same for me. I don't know why it's not used more often. The doc told me it's been available since the 1950s (if I remember correctly). Probably because it's cheap and generically available. |
My husband lost 100lbs in about 3 months when he started taking it. |
I started phen pro at the beginning of July and I am down 40 lbs and fitter than I’ve ever been. My BMI is 23 so I’m not skinny but I’m muscular and feel great. It resets the way you think about eating - I noticed how often people tend to eat and taking the edge off the hunger really helped me be intentional about the quantity and quality of my food. |
Insurance does not cover it. How much are you paying for it? |
I paid $75 for a month’s supply. It was worth it to fit comfortably in all my old pants again! |
How is that even possible? That's a pound per day! |
How do you find a doctor that prescribes it? I'm with Kaiser and am sure my doctors wouldn't. Do you call and ask? Is there a listing? |
That does not seem healthy |
10:40, I'm with Kaiser, too. My endo prescribed it after running a battery of tests that came back (mostly) normal. Kaiser doesn't cover the phen, but the generic cost me $7 for a month's supply. Endo says she'll keep me on it as long as I want provided I'm still losing weight and my BP is okay (I've got about 35 pounds to lose - down 7 in my first week)
I've also gotten it from Dr. Anchors in Bethesda, but he charges a ton more and is kind of .. creepy. |
I'm 10:52 here. I'll say that the phen is NOT a magic pill, although it makes it so much easier to not emotionally eat. It makes it way easier for me to come home from work hungry, and actually cook a healthy meal without diving headfirst into something carby because I have to eat "RIGHT NOW". It's allowed me to get to the gym 3x a week because it gives me energy. I get that it's not ideal. I'd like to say that this is motivated by vanity, because I'm honest- it is. But it's also about the fact that I want to take control of my weight NOW (32 years old) before the scale continues to creep and I have no one to blame for my overweight related health issues but myself. |
Yeah, that sounds pretty awful. Also will take a toll on skin elasticity, losing weight that quickly. |
Does Phen make your heart race?
I'm prone to anxiety/panic attacks and one of the triggers is a racing heart. |
