| Does anyone know results for Wilson or Walls students admitted early decision to colleges? |
| I'm hearing very good news from SWW from DC. Yale, Stanford, 2 at University of Pennsylvania, I think one at Harvard. No comprehensive list yet, but the gist of it is that it's the strongest admission year ever at the school. |
| This is interesting because I'm hearing that some of the DC leading independent school senior classes are having an unexpectedly tough year. It could be that elite colleges are putting more emphasis on public school recruitment. |
| Haven't you heard? Every hard-working Wilson student has their choice of Ivies every year! |
No, elite colleges no longer recruit from particular schools as a general rule, or classes of schools either. They did fairly openly just a generation ago, but no longer. They look for stellar candidates to create a balanced class, period. Tough year because more top schools are admitting in the single digits every admissions season. I work in admissions. |
First, honors for all. Next Ivies for all! |
Many colleges also have initiatives underway to significantly improve percentages of URMs, Dreamers, etc. this year. This leads to looking more closely at public schools, especially in more urban areas. |

| You folks are so unbelievably racist. Update from DC, three kids from SWW got into Yale ED. Two were white. Do you just have to believe that your private-school kid must be better at all things, and that it's just reverse racism keeping them out of the top schools that DCPS kids are getting into? So obnoxious on so many fronts. The SWW kids are great kids and great students and the uninformed bullshit here makes me sad for our country. And, FWIW, I'm white. |

So Jeff should at least acknowledge that he removed the "Do they offer the AP Ebonics"? -- the email to which I responded.
Funny, my SWW kid, who is heading to an Ivy ED, heard about it and said, "I would definitely take that course." She's had college-level linguistics. But other folks should know just what kind of nauseating racism the rest of us are responding to. |
Don't forget rural students, especially after Trump's win. I heard this directly from an admissions officer at a SLAC. My DC met several white students from rural areas at a diversity fly-in program. |
| SWW kid got into William & Mary early decision. |
Keep hating on Wilson - that's just fine. Congratulations to all of the kids who got into college so far! We've had a few Ivy admits so far! |
| We were at a Wilson theatre production last night, and there was a lot of excitement among the Wilson kids who had heard earlier in the day that they had been accepted to their first-choice school. I've heard of at least one acceptance to Stanford. |
I know of two Yale admits from SWW, as well as Georgetown, Harvard, Caltech, William & Mary. |
