Papadopoulos Claimed Trump Campaign Approved Russia Meeting

Former Trump adviser George Papadopoulos made a significant claim in an email: Top Trump campaign officials agreed to a pre-election meeting with representatives of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The message, if true, would bolster claims that Trump’s campaign attempted to collude with Russian interests. But it’s unclear whether Papadopoulos, who pleaded guilty to lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, was merely boasting when he sent the July 14, 2016, email to a Kremlin-linked contact. There’s also no indication such a meeting ever occurred.

Even if it's true, what's wrong with candidates meeting with foreign leaders? Many candidates go on trips to boost their foreign policy credentials. Obama did it. Mitt did it.

The issue of collusion is not just meeting with foreign nationals on the sly. It's also the quid pro quo. Trump changed the RNC stance toward the Ukraine. Flynn suggested to Russia in December 2016 that they would lift sanctions, for which he was fired. Why would Flynn even have said that, if not as a quid pro quo?

Not only did Popadopolus proffer this, but Mueller likely has:

- phone records
- text messages
- emails
- other campaign records
- other administration records
- wire conversation between Popadopolus and Admin officials and former staffers

Now the Trump camp is claiming credit for this guy's indictment. Apparently it happened because of their cooperation with Mueller. You cannot make this $hit up.
