Who's fault is this that there was no opposition to the new law in 2016? The DEA Administrator at the time, Big Pharma's lobbying dollars? Why didn't anyone at DEA or DOJ squash this when they had a chance to? |
No surprise it was a R who cut the legs from under the DEA. And Trump wants to promote him. Trump also met with big pharma and told them he would lower regulation even more. His whole thing about "opiod is a big issues" blah blah is all talk. Not only is he wanting more deregulation, promoting the man who would allow more opiods on the streets, but he wants to cut substance abuse from essential healthcare coverage. Expect opiod epidemic to skyrocket.

This was the first block on 60 Minutes tonight. Very compelling. |
Let's all thank the conservative SCOTUS for allowing industries and lobbyists to donate huge amounts of money to our political leaders so that they always look after the industries rather than the public. #draintheswamp NOT |
I don't read Bezos diary. |
Good news - you don't have to! You can remain ignorant. Or you can listen to the actual words of an actual guy who was in charge of 500 people at the actual DEA here: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/meet-60-minutes-dea-whistleblower/ |
Anyone seen the meme that went around the Internet a few months ago about Trump naming El Chapo to head the DEA? I think Tom Marino is a worse pick. |
Really really disturbing. This was more troubling to me than the Mylan price gouging on epipens and I was personally affected by that! |
Most of Trump's pick are bad. |
Whose DEA did this happen under? |
And of the two congress people who sponsored the bill to take away any enforcement ability from the DEA, one is now running for senate and the other was appointed Trump's "drug czar." You cannot make this stuff up. |
If you read the article, it says many in Congress and the WH didn't fully understand the impact, but it was a couple of Rs influenced by drug money that pushed it through. Yes, it was bad, but seriously, this is nothing new. A lot of Congress people don't fully read any bills and don't really understand what's in there. I don't know what Obama knew, but if the WH also didn't read it fully and was unaware of what was going on, then yes, it's partly his administration's fault, too. However, given Marino's role in this, should he really be up for the head of the DEA? Given Trump's track record of installing heads of agencies that actually want to dismantle said agencies, I'd say Trump picking Marino is just part and parcel of this plan t the detriment of the many who are addicted to opioids. |
Cannabis is a schedule one substance but the pharmaceutical industry can manufacture a synthetic version of the same active ingredient in cannabis, and it magically becomes legal. Crooks. |
+1. |
