Thoughts on MC Elite?

MC Elite has girls playing at high levels in college, highschool because of their coaching. You can play on the B level at Bethesda with dad coaches who dont know the game and win more if your only looking at wins and losses. I'd argue those players are going nowhere fast. Not to mention just glance at the goal differential in NCAA womens this weekend there are more than 5 double digit victories. Does that mean the losing team isnt playing at a high level and learning valuable tools for the future?

General rule of thumb is that sports should be fun for kids in 8th grade. Also, I fail to see the lessons learned by putting the 196th ranked team up against the no.3 ranked team. A game in which the Coppermine goalie even scored. What is the lesson learned here? The reality is, they would learn a lot more playing with kids at their skill level or slightly above their skill level. I’d live to poll the kids on MCE how much fun they are having this year? Person who made this decision should be 86’d.

How did the goalie score? Did she switch sticks? Otherwise, would not have been a valid shot.

I’m guessing the goalie scored and perhaps it did not count. The point, you twit, is that the Coppermine goalie felt so empowered by the lack of competition that she drove the field and scored. The fact that the goal did not count is immaterial but perhaps you used this humiliating experience as another teachable moment for the 2028’s insofar as it would not count? Damn. Well, I’m a 2028 MCE parent who is sick as $hit of watching these girls get humiliated week in and out. The fact that an opposing goalie shot and scored and that we only have 5 goals all year is sufficient indicia that we are out of our league.

Have you talked with the coaches and asked them what the reasoning is for the team being in the A division?

Yes, I’d love to hear from any MCE ‘28 parents who’ve received an explanation as to why that team went into A.

You learn significantly more during a defeat then a win and you can have fun during the learning process. I'd love to see you poll a bunch of 3rd graders - 8th graders to determine who is having fun if only Just to see your level of self importance in the process. I drove a suburban full of girls and they had a blast after a recent loss as our players and coaches could tell massive improvement from week to week. As someone who played in a final 4 in the late 90's dealing with wins and finding joy in losses is a major contributor to success. For your kids sake maybe talk to someone for counseling???

By your logic, MCE 2028 should play against Boston College or Northwestern women’s teams. Imagine how much “learning” could be gleaned from those beatdowns? Keep in mind, this is not against the MCE kids who are great. It is against psycho parents like the PP who feel that demoralizing victories are a good thing for their kid to experience week in and out (and the person who put them in the A Division where sadly they will continue losing to the best in the country).

So you're saying our girls club teams can play against NCAA level competition! Cool! Please message me how to make this happen!

Not impossible. Can swap sticks with a field player and so long as the team pulls an extra back. But beyond unlikely.

Coppermine folks are just fine and know the rules. They aren't the disaster that MCE is. The goalie played the field with a field stick and scored when they played MCE. As the kids say, mic drop.

Clearly it is because losing by 15 plus every weekend builds character right. Lets be real the results would not have been much better in the B division MCE is a shell of a shell of its former self at all age groups.

Playing in the NGLL it looks like they have an A and B for 29 then none in 30,31, or 32, then one team in the 33 class.
The 29 teams are on the same track as the 28 team. Midnight is 0-7 with an actual GD of -61 the Carolina team record is slightly better sitting with a 2-5 record in the B bracket and an actual GD of -47

I have multiple girls on MC elite getting great coaching in lacrosse and field hockey. We are improving weekly and never really feel like we've been slaughtered , nor do our girls. Actually we've won more than many other programs in the conf we compete. 4-5 teams have no wins in the NGLL . But I guess you're saying if you're not winning just quit? Interesting parenting advice. That will serve them well as they grow in the wonderful world of Dundalk adjacent sprawl.

Person points out the overwhelmingly obvious problems with MCE and you make the assumption the PP is a rube from “Dundalk adjacent sprawl.” I guarantee you, it’s the same people you look down on whose kids are annihilating the MCE kids on a weekly basis. And if you don’t “feel like [you’ve] been slaughtered” let me clear up your delusion: you are getting slaughtered weekly. You confuse losing to much better teams as making progress. You’re not.

Oh, and nice straw man argument: no one is saying quit, they are saying play in the appropriate division. To be honest, the ‘28s are rec level skill wise playing in the most competitive division in the country. Go to a rec leave and improve. Until then, enjoy cheering on 18 goal losses.
