Why am I hungry every 2 hours? I feel like a baby!

Anonymous
I don't understand why on earth I am hungry so often now at only 7 weeks. I just ate a nice big (late) lunch at 1 sometihng and it's 4:30 and I'm ravenous. At this rate I feel like I will gain 40 pounds with this pregnancy. Has anyone felt like this? Is this a bad sign or a sign of multiples? Thanks!

That happened to me and no multiples here. Be careful though because I gained more than I would have liked and it was all in the first trimester.

Very normal and not a sign of multiples. I was the same. Agree with PP - try and stick with healthy snacking.

I was just thinking the same thing! I'm 8 weeks and for the last few days, I need something every couple of hours or I feel like I'm going to pass out. I've stopped having meals and instead just have a snack every 2 hours over the course of the day. Then, by the time I get home around 8, I'm no longer hungry and am just sort of done eating for the day. Then the next morning (or sometimes when I wake up in the middle of the night) the cycle starts again.

I'm pregnant with twins and I was ravenous every 3 hours at first. I ate mainly because if I didn't eat every 3 hours than my stomach would remain queasy.

i was definitely like that -- until about 13 weeks and things evened off. i tried to stick to healthy snacks/meals, but if your body is saying you must eat, you should listen to it... keeping up with my appetite also helped me not feel ill... and don't forget to drink tons of water! good luck!

At 7 weeks I was starving, too, but then I went through a month of not wanting much of anything at all, so just follow your body's instincts.

Make sure you're eating a balanced meal with enough protein and healthy fats, without those the meals won't "stick" as well with you.

Very normal. I was the same way during my first trimester. I HAD to eat every three hours. I'd even wake up in the middle of the night and have to eat something. I made sure to take lots of healthy and filling snacks with me to work (fruit, veggies, cottage cheese, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, cereal bars, etc). If healthy foods were available, I'd eat them. If not, I'd eat junk. So, be prepared and you shouldn't have problems with excessive weight gain.

It stopped (like clock work) when I reached my second trimester, and I my appetite returned to normal. Now that I'm in my third trimester, my appetite has decreased yet again. I'm assuming this is due to a lack of space. I have to consciously make sure to graze throughout the day because I can only eat tiny meals.

At least you're pregnant...I'm hungry every couple of hours and I have no excuse! Enjoy eating healthy snacks to feed that growing baby (and its life support system - you).
