Can someone please explain to me the various travel team levels. We're still somewhat new to travel and I'm trying to understand the rank order of a bunch of teams at the u10 level. For Example, can anyone rank order the following teams so I've got a definitive guide who my son is playing from week to week and where they are at their club?
Bethesda blue, green, white? Arlington Red, white? Stoddert black, blue, white? Alexandria? PPA? Pipeline black, red, gold? CSA? CYA? Potomac? And more if you've got them! Thank you! |
Vienna - Red/Phoenix, black, white, silver
McLean - DA/ECNL, Green, White, Gold PAC - Navy, White, Gold |
Potomac - blue, white, black
But Potomac doesn't play in the same league as half the teams you mentioned so I wonder why you're really asking. First I thought you were asking for tournaments but then I reread your post and you say "week to week". Are you actually trying to figure it out to move clubs? |
Op here. Were quite happy with my sons club. And in his league it's not too hard to figure out, but tournaments are a mystery to me and he'll soon play in the second tournament of the year. Plus, we're close with kids a year up and I figured it'd be good to know who they're playing. Not to mention that travel soccer is a long term game. I figured the info people share here will inform us and probably others in the DMV for years to come. So, please add any local teams you can think of that have non-obvious designations. Thank you! |
This much emotional investment when your kid is 9...going to be a tough road ahead for you, and even more so for your poor kid. Seriously, it's bad enough to care about this stuff in your OWN club. If you care about the team rankings in other clubs, you need a new hobby.

You have to love all the psychoanalysis on this board. ![]() |
Please. The fact that any of us are on this site means we are a little too invested. You're no better. |
Alexandria -- Red, white, blue, black, silver
FPYC -- blue, gold |
"Is that Bethesda's B team or D team?" is a legitimate question. Particularly when you have a coach who tends to get your team in a bracket that's either too high or too low for its current ability level. Also, on a pragmatic level, this sort of information-sharing helps us shut down the trash-talking idiots who come here and say Club X can't be that good because his DS's team just beat their team. |
PAC also has the occasional Silver team. And just to confuse things, their girls' A teams are Gold. B teams are Silver. Vienna once had a Gold team, but I don't think they plan to do that again. |
CYA - Purple, Gold, Black & White (B&W may be even)
Great Falls - Blue, White, Yellow |
Arlington: Red, White, Blue, Black, Silver, Gold |
PP, I feel you. I remember when we first entered travel soccer, I assumed the Gold team must be the top team, then probably Silver....right? |
Not the OP but I think you are off base on this. What is being asked for is nothing more than basic information regarding club hierarchies. There is nothing wrong with providing a reference. Perhaps you should just not look at the post if it doesn't matter to you, but you, yourself, might have to much emotional investment in what other people are interested in. |
Bethesda U10 boys (the girls have a different set-up) is: Academy I Academy II Blue Green White Black Other--not sure about the other colors |
