Planet Fitness--25 cents down?

Anonymous
I got a flyer for PF and it says they are running a special--$.25 down, $10/month. How much do you usually have to put down? And $10/mo is their lowest tier membership already-so how is that a special? TIA!!

Wait, you want it cheaper than $10 a month?

Ha ha--no, $10 is good. I'm curious what the special is though--is there usually a downpayment? They are advertising 25 cents down, so what is the usual price down?

Looks like there is a yearly membership fee of about $40 that will come due in November.

Does anyone know if they have swimming pools in their facilities?

Here are some threads on Planet Fitness from fatwallet:

I was specifically looking for the ones about the $100/year deal, which might be cheaper than this current one. But it looks like this thread was from 2016.

The other thread might have info about Planet Fitness that you might have to watch out for.

I've never been to Planet Fitness. Have considered it as a backup gym in the past, especially considering that they're 24 hours (or used to be?).

Some planet fitnesses might be a little bit different. But overall it's just a budget gym with mostly machines, such as cardio and weight machines. Very few free weights if any.

They're kind of barebones, so don't think you'll find any in this area with a pool or anything. They do have free pizza once or month.

Check out the yelp reviews for the Planet Fitness you would probably go to.

I belong to PF. It's always $10 month. I think I paid $10 down. There is a low once yearly fee. Can't remember the amount but nothing compared to my past gyms. They have no pools. No real classes. They have something they call group classes but not at all the type of group classes you find at other gyms. This is the biggest drawback for me. When I started I wasn't looking for classes but now that I'm in shape, I think I'd enjoy mixing it up. They do have weights and what they have definitely meets my needs, but it is majority cardio. The one I go to is clean and there's plenty of cardio equipment so I never have to wait. Can't say the same with the weights but I don't really wait long there.

The last gym I belonged to cost 4x this per month and the machines were always broken. It's a bargain if you're a pretty low maintenance exerciser.

I think I paid $10 down.

But if you just need equipment and weights- it is an awesome deal. They are really clean, in good condition and plenty to go around.
