Is Trump going to resign?

Anonymous
Why did Pence cancel his SA trip to meet with the President at Camp David on Korea, a situation that has calmed? Why do they need some confidential location (that Trump hates too boot) to discuss North Korea when the White House situation room, Pentagon, etc present other logical options? Why does it have to happen RIGHT NOW with Pence vs. the President's national security and military leadership? I'm thinking it's a front to discuss transfer of power, and betting that Trump will resign. It at least seems plausible to me.

Wouldn't surprise me. Tomorrow is Friday and that's when the craziest sh#t tends to drop from this Administration. It's been an insane couple of weeks.

Though, it may be that Kelley is resigning or DJT is asking for Pence's resignation (insufficient loyalty). DJT is uber-combative right now.

I cannot see him voluntarily stepping down, nothing in his past behavior suggests that.

Everything in his past behavior suggests it. Remember Trump Airlines, Trump Steaks, Trump Casinos, Trump Mortgages, Trump University and on and on? He ALWAYS pulls the plug when the cost is too high.

Its so entertaining when the Republicans have the Whitehouse.

No way. Not gonna happen. We can dream but its just not gonning to happen. This Adminsitration is not going out with a whimper as much as we might wish it. If it is taken out it will be really, really ugly and exhausting and YUGE.

I can convince myself of both possibilities (he will resign vs. he will cling to the WH with all that he can), but the one thing I've learned about Trump is that you can never predict anything about him. There is literally no rationale underlying what he does, and he seems to reshape space-time around him to make it equally non-sensical.

To me, the crazy thing right now is that we are even contemplating this question at all.

I don't think he's having fun with his Presidential life. He has spent his life doing exactly what he pleases - he doesn't want responsibility of running a country, reading boring policy memos, people advising him on what he can or cannot do, newspapers criticizing his every move. I think it's totally believable that he will resign at some point so he can return to his comfortable life of luxury and being the boss beyond question or reproach.

I can see it happening but not in the immediate future.
In a year or two when the stress of the Presidency starts withering that comb-over I can see him saying, "To hell with this" and abruptly resigning.

I think in the end that will be his decision and it will be impulsive and come as a surprise. The longer he stays the more likley he will try to make it four years, so I think it will be within a year from today.

Assuming Trump does not start WWIII, which is entirely possible, I want that loon in office until right before 2018 midterms. Having Trump as president is the best chance for moderate Republicans and Democrats to gain congressional seats.

Unfortunately, the ultra-conservatives probably understand this, too. They need to get Trump out of office, install Pence (onerous but not crazy), restore relative normalcy, and proceed with their destruction of everything from the environment to what's left of the middle class and healthcare. Not having Trump in office takes the wind out of some key sails. Nobody will mobilize the opposition like Trump. He is a huge liability at this point. He's also a lunatic, so some of these people in power may be genuinely afraid.

Mueller is needed here. I want Trump to leave in disgrace, but I want him to take Pence and Ryan with him - summer 2018.

I too thought it strange that Pence was cutting short his trip. The articles I saw said the meeting was about Afghanistan, not North Korea... That seems even less urgent and even more like a cover. Wasn't Trump supposed to be on vacation?

I'm going with this answer

I highly doubt Trump would resign. The ONLY reason I could see in his mind would be if he was just tired of being president, and having to deal with answer for people who dislike him. Every day there is dislike for him in the media and elsewhere (rightfully). Maybe then his ego cant handle that accumulation of people speaking out against him, so he may just think to himself that he'd rather go back to living at Trump Tower and eating his taco bowls and running his business.

Otherwise he is too self-absorbed and truly, pathologically, malignantly narcissistic that I do not think he has or will ever have the inclination to resign. In his mind I highly suspect that his resignation, under ANY circumstances, is a big whopping LOSS for him in this 'game'. He's not going to bring that kind of loss on himself, he's gonna make other people take him out and go down swinging.

Yes, I think he will. Once he realizes that he is going down, he will resign and play the victim.
