If life wasn't an issue what would your dream house be like?

It was the Spelling Manor in L.A.
Was valued at $150M, but Think sold for around $75M. I loved the bowling alley, the gift wrap rooms and mostly the doll museum. And it would be SO fun to play hide 'n seek in!! |
if money where no object.....

Don't know what my dream house is since I like a lot of different styles, but I did enjoy a lot about Jennie Garth's MCM house that she renovated on HGTV. The bright-color decorating choices are not my taste though.

The True Blood mansion in Malibu is pretty nice: http://www.businessinsider.com/true-blood-mansion-in-malibu-on-sale-for-54-million-2012-8#you-dont-get-this-beautiful-pool-if-you-only-buy-the-main-house-7
Houses on the cliff in Cape Town neighborhood Clifton: https://www.property24.com/for-sale/clifton/cape-town/western-cape/11015/105319866 (I would decorate differently though) Or houses in Capri (like Villa San Michele): http://www.capri.com/en/s/villa-san-michele-axel-munthe I love houses set on a cliff overlooking the ocean. |

When I was a little girl in Chicago, we took one of those architectural boat tours every summer down the Chicago River. I always imagined I'd be living in some posh riverfront townhouse when I grew up. Sadly, they're in the millions and completely impractical in every way, but the dream lives on.

These are absolutely beautiful townhones PP. They take my entire breath away.... |
Well designed 1500 square feet with a view (water, cityscape, mountains, where I can see past my immediate neighbors). Solar and wind powered with AC/heat geothermal, enough battery storage for 3 days and ability to power cars too. A small office for both DH and I and two living areas (one less formal and one more formal). My current kitchen- sink must look out a window or into a room - not a wall. On ~3/4 of an acre with raised vegetable/herb beds and a small orchard, a hive and a small chicken coop. Walkable to a small village with amenities like Westover(coffee shop, hardware store, PO, library, small grocery and weekly farmer's market and several restaurants). Near a strong faith community in our denomination. Possibly in a small college town. Near water and hiking opportunities. Where potable water is not scarce. 4 real seasons. Near excellent medical facilities and a decent airport. If you know of such a place- please post. ![]() |
