Help for high fsh

Anonymous
Have been TTC for 9 months now, I am 36, DH is 38. Went to my OB at 6 months and she referred us to an RE who ran tests and I found out my AMH is 0.16 and my FSH is 42. I've had my FSH repeated a few times since and it's anywhere from 20-60. I have tried Femara and Clomid thus far and didn't respond at all to either - didn't even develop one follicle. My RE said my high FSH threw my body into overdrive which backfired and just gave me cysts. I am taking a break for a month and then we are going to reevaluate.

I am just curious if there is anyone else on here with high FSH who has had success with any particular protocols... success being responding well to the meds and producing more than one egg. Thanks for sharing, want to be proactive with my RE who seems to just be laid back.

so, the problem with high fsh and stimulation is that clomid and femara both work to attempt to stimulate the ovaries by... raising FSH. Your body is already trying that on its own, and your ovaries aren't responding.

some people with high FSH respond better with an estrogen priming protocol.

I think you need a new RE. That FSH is really high, I'm surprised that they put you on the normal path given that

I would switch to an RE who has experience with high fsh patients, even if it means going out of town. Dr Davis at Cornell in NYC is one of the top ones.

What is your antral follicle count? Do you ovulate on your own?

This. High FSH is very difficult to treat and MOST REs do it badly.

Thanks all. I just switched to SIRM in NYC and had my first appt a week and a half ago. My new RE was the one who wanted to wait this cycle out to see if my FSH goes down next month after being off meds.

I go to NY for work often and have heard they are good for DOR. Has anyone else heard of them? So far they seem smart but maybe less proactive then I would have thought. But maybe sitting things out is the right thing to do.

I am not sure about AFC but will ask next time. I do ovulate on my own each month.
