Miscarriage or Not? hope?

No heartbeat suddenly at nine weeks. No miscarriage though. Is there hope? Could the ultrasound miss the heartbeat even though we saw it at 8 weeks?

Did you get an ultrasound at the doctor's?

No, I wouldn't have hope. I'm sorry. It's called a missed miscarriage.

They don't always actually miscarry right away like blood etc

Finding a heartbeat on an ultrasound is a pretty straightforward thing esp at 9 weeks

Lack of fetal heartbeat is pretty indicative of a missed miscarriage. I'm sorry OP. When it happened to me the baby had likely passed at least a week prior based on the lack of growth seen, but I'd had no sign of bleeding. I had to get a D&C.

If it wasn't great ultrasound equipment you might consider asking for a scan at a radiology facility, but the heartbeat should be easy to find at 9 weeks even without the best ultrasound machine.

Did they do a level 2 U/S? When they saw no h/b they sent me to confirm on different equipment, which unfortunately showed the same...

So sorry, same thing happened to me at 9 weeks. Everything looked great in prior ultrasounds but at 9 weeks there was no more heartbeat. My body didn't catch on and a week later I needed a D&C. I could have waited it out but I had horrible morning sickness and other issues, so I didn't want to have to deal with it for another few weeks. Really sorry you're going through this.

I'm so sorry, OP. No heartbeat is definitive, though it may take your body awhile to realize what happened (and you may want to take action yourself first).

OP, my heart goes out to you. You have come so far. My thoughts are with you.

I'm sorry OP. My last m/c was the same at 9 weeks. There was even adequate growth from the 8 week scan. It's heartbreaking. Sending hugs and peace.
